Hundred Pushups.

A friend of mine just shared this push-up program with me. I am going to start it and thought I would share it here. It may have been shared here before, but we have enough newbies that it can't hurt.

Anyone interested?

edco76's talked about it a bunch of times -but i don't think there's a thread to it...

this will come in handy for the biggest loser crying game :D

I have challenged several people to a "push-up off" using that program. Thus far I have no takers.

You feel lucky tiffany?

I keep saying I am going to do that program with burpees. I havent doe it yet. Maybe I need to start a club and find a "burpee buddY"

That depends? How buff are you? I have to weight my risk according to if I think I can take you or not. I don't like to lose. lol

I am going to start this program on the 25th. (because I will be out of town most of next week) I will probably take the initial test today and am fully prepared to be completely humiliated. I bet I can do maybe 5. eeek. BUT- I am competitive so once I start the program I will smoke it! How bout you? Have you done the initial test??

Nope. I havent done pushups in a few months actually. I think I could fire off 20 or so. I'm thinking of starting a forum challenge. What do you think? We could use different variations so everyone could do it. From 60 degree pushups to burpees for the more fit people.

Ok. So my ignorance of the word burpee sent me to google where I found this: Bodybuilding.com - Ross Enamait - Burpee Conditioning - No More Nonsense! ya gotta scroll down a bit. Actually we did these in high school and college basketball practice, but I don't think we called them burpees. They are hard. I wanna do it!

I am up for a forum challenge for sure.

Nope. Its funny that Ross's name is on that article because he doesnt do burbees that way. When I do burpees I add a push-up.
Burpees

Squat thrusts have no jump.

So a burpee is like a squat thrust+push up+jump.

I started the hundred pushups program 2 and a half weeks ago... did week 1 and week 2... (both in column 1, the easiest)

I don't think I'm ready for week 3 (not even the easy column), as my exertion test after week 2 gave me a 10 pushup maximum.

I'm back on week 1 now, doing column 2 (one step up).

Oh, I'm managing girly pushups (on knees) by the way :)

I'd totally be interested in a challenge!!

mr. nixon is definitely keen to enter into a challenge.

at present I only ever do 10 pushups at a time but I focus more on crunches than I do with pushups when i'm working out, so it will be keen!

I think I'm gonna try this. Sounds pretty fun.

I already do 3 sets of death crawls a couple days a week. Starts off in a standing position and crawls down into pushup position, only letting hands and feet touch the ground the whole time during the crawl. Do six pushups and then crawls back up to a stand in the same fashion. Pause and rest 5-10 seconds and crawl back down and do five pushups. Crawl back up. Repeat until you get down to one, then count back up to six from one.

I think I can already do about 50 straight. I'm still young though, so good luck to anyone with age against them.

Wow, that's a LOT of pushups! I don't have a ton of upper body strength. I don't think I could handle it. But good luck to those who are up to the challenge!

I did the initial test today and managed 22 straight pushups, which I was fairly happy with.

Start week one tomorrow morning!

Am I the only one doing this??

I'm on level 3 (the hardest) yesterday had to do 10, 10, 8, 6 then max. Max was only 12! I was definitely sore and feel sore from it this morning but I'm excited about the challenge!

About 2 weeks ago my friends decided to have a push-up contest. The to first go got 23 (The highest for the ladies) the second was my roommate who got like 3. Then my friend got 48 and my other friend 50. I know I couldn't do one, so I jokingly went behind a doorframe and did "no-hand" push ups.

I'm definitely giving this a try so next time that happens I'll be prepared.

I'M doing this! :)

I have done week 1 on level 1, week 2 on level 1.

Had to go back to week 1 on level 2, now I'm doing week 1 level 3... I'm having to adapt it as I go along, to get ready for the big change in week 3...

Next week I'll do week 2 level 2, then test myself again, then hopefully week 3 on level 1.

My max right now is 12 too!
