Hello,
I'm new to this board but not to being pudgy. I'm a 26 year old male from michigan. I'm 5'9" and 318lbs. I am currently a half pack a day smoker and working on quitting in the very near future. I've found motivation lately and been really trying to get my weight under control lately. I have three kids and want to be there for them as they get older. For the past month I have kept my calories at or around 2000 per day and I do about 45 min of cardio 6 times a week at least. In the past month, I have gained 4 pounds. I'm trying to figure out where I'm going wrong. Burn more than you take in. Simple math or so the doc tells me. Any help would be great. I've been going it alone with my weight for most of my life and I think I'd like to be a man and admit when I need help from people who have been there and are there. Thanks in advance and I look forward to talking to everyone.

Hello!

Welcome to the Boards!

Have you signed up to this site It's great for coutning calories. Before this I thought I was consuming a certain amount of calories per day and when I signed up to this site I discovered that I was indeed consuming more calories than I should have been. It's a great way to keep track of what you are eating.

Also have you thought of incorporating some resistance training (weights) into your exercises. I was told by a personal trainer that doing weights will help you burn more fat than just doing cardio. Whilst cardio burn the calories at the time of exercise, weight training will continue to burn fat even after you have finished your exercises.

Good luck with your weight loss.
