Hi all! I'm pretty new to this forum. I've only lurked here for about a week now, and decided to join up.
In terms of fitness, I was a slouch in my teen years. Ate a typical North American Diet, and didn't exercise much. Presumably, I was out of shape. Man was I ever out of shape! I'm working on my progress log actually, and it's scary how bad I really was. But for the past 4 years, I've been working on my health, because I had a life ahead of me that looked pretty bleak otherwise if I didn't. 4 years ago, I heard about the Atkins diet, so I went on it for about 2 months, and did aerobic style exercise each day (mostly running, and playing sports). Lost 10 lbs in short order, but had no energy. As in, literally, NO energy. I was barely able to drag myself out of bed each morning. Anyone know why? I was always told that when you lost weight, you should feel vibrant and full of energy.
After that, I went from a high protein, low carb diet, back to standard North American eating habits. I employed Combat Conditioning (From Matt Furey) into my exercises, and saw a massive boost in my health. In 6 months, I went from 25% body fat to 20% body fat. According to the scale, I only lost 10 lbs., but according to the body fat scanner, 16 lbs. of fat had been shed. It was a victory for me that time.
I've certainly come a long way, and this forum looks like it'll be a great place for me to get some positive encouragement to focus on my health and wellness. I look forward to seeing you all around, and have a great many discussions.
