Howdy Folks!

Hey everyone,

Just thought I would give a short intro on who I am and why i'm here!

I'm a 30 year old, office based insurance consultant in the UK. Previously I was a milkman, so the early starts and physical aspects of the job kept my weight down, but after I transferred to an office I quickly piled on the pounds. My main problem has been snacking at work. For convenience I use a sandwich shop down the road, all ok there but their cheapest sandwhich is fresh roasted pork (or Turkey) with ALL the trimmings! Stuffing, apple sauce and gravy. When your hungry it's very hard to resist! I also tend to snack a lot at home so this doesn't help either.

I did try to lose weight a while back by dieting and succeeded... to a degree. I lost 2 stone over a couple of months and then as you can guess rapidly piled it back on once I stopped.

MY NEW PLAN

After feeling quite ashamed of my body during my last holiday a few weeks ago, I want to shed the pounds for good. I realise that dieting is no way to go so I have adopted the following plan.

I never used to eat breakfast so now I eat a small bowl of healthy cereal before I go to work. At work I now buy my ingredients to make my own sandwiches early in the week and don't venture anywhere near the sandwich shop! If I get hungry, I have a glass of water. If i'm still hungry I snack on a piece of fruit. All the cups of tea in the office (about 3) now have sugar reduced to 1/2 teaspoon.

Once I get home I usually eat a ready meal (I get back late and do not usually have the time or energy to cook). I choose the healthy options range wich are well balanced and low in calories and I follow this by a low calorie pudding such as a low fat yoghurt.

All in all i'm pleased with the results. By having breakfast I can last easily to dinner and I find it very easy to produce a healthy sandwich without craving for some pork!!!! Now i'm going to add going to the gym 3 times a week into the mix to start and take it from there, (i'm considering joining there 'get results' programme wich gives you a workout plan but it's a little out of my budget at the moment!).

Thanks for listening, any tips or criticism greatly received!

Hi there and welcome to the forum. I was wondering as to what your current stats are. Also, about how many calories a day do you consume? I hope you find what it is that you're looking for here at the WLF. Hopefully I'll see you around various threads.

that sounds like a good plan, i recommend you start a diary so you can track it and have your new wlf friends to cheer you on!

I totaly forgot to put that info in my post!!!

I'm 5 foot 9 and currently weigh 206 LBs. My goal id to try and reach 170 LBs as apparently this is when I cross over into the 'normal' weight range.

According to my calculations, at my current weight my body burns off 2025 calories a day (2430 calories a day with a little excersize). I'm currently eating around 1500 give or take a few.
