Plateaued for a bit in the winter months, but got back into the swing of things when spring rolled around again.

Who would have known something fun like bike riding would help so much, it doesnt even feel like exercise when I bike ride :).
Also to the many individuals that link to "The Couch-to-5k Running Plan" thank you. I went from struggling to jog a 1/4 non stop to jogging 2.5 miles straight in about 2 1/2 months. And that still trips me out to this day haha.

I wish everyone to have the strength to do this, we all have the ability to!! ;)
If ya got any questions ask away.

-Thanks
Tom

P.S. My goal weight is now about 220, was 240 before.

Well you've come a long way already... job well done.

With regards to eating, you'll have trouble getting to your goal if you don't get it under wraps. Why do you think you struggle with your eating habits? What you have you tried in the past to improve them?

How tall are you? You seem 6'3''. But great job, I started at 378 and now at 285..You can tell you lost weight but once your at 300 every 10 lbs you lose is more noticable then before, from my experience. Good luck,

The main thing I struggle with is time, Full time student and full time job usually have me reaching for the convenient rather then the healthy. In the past I used to make my own lunch but time has been kinda stretched lately so back to fast food I went. Dont know if i should maybe takes snacks, or just go to the grocery store 1 day a week and stock up on healthy eats, what do you think?

Hi Tom!

I'm new to the forum too, so welcome!
You're definitely on the right track and you're doing great! I'm sorta in the same boat that I can work out, do cardio and some strength training, but I really have a hard time getting my eating under control.
I have to admit that I also rationalize a little bit...I'll tell myself that it's ok if I reach for the bad snack foods because I burned a lot of calories today...or some other such nonsense. Even when I eat healthy foods, I tend to eat too much of them. I'm really trying to get this under control and realize that every bite I take of food is a CHOICE...good or bad. I'm learning to really focus on those choices every time I make them and if a choice I'm making has any guilt associated with it, then I realize that it's probably not a good idea.
I don't want to be focussed on food in general, but until I maintain a steady habit of making good choices, I have to put my focus there.
I think your idea of going to the store once a week and stocking up on healthy snacks is a great one. What may also help is to sit down and make up a realistic schedule for yourself of all your activities and responsibilities and decide where there is room to cook a healthy meal. Even if you can only do it once or twice a week for now, at least it's a start.
Keep up the good work!!

Congrats to you on your weight loss! It is a struggle, but just remember, this is a marathon, not a sprint. You're making changes to your lifestyle that will have an effect on you for the rest of your life.

As for making cooking more convenient, I've found grocery shopping and cooking on weekends when I have a bit of free time really helps me. I also try to cook the night before and keep lots of frozen vegetables.
