How to seek professional help when you're only 16.

Im only 16 years old, and the only way I've figured I could get any weight loss help is by seeing my doctor/pediatrician for help. I was hopefully thinking that they could help me by finding me a nutritionist.

It pisses me off that my mom works at the hospital where I am insured at. I've asked her atleast 3 times to get me an appointment, but each time Ive never gotten one.

My father just tells me to tell her to make an appointment, and it just keeps going in circles. He doesnt know how to make an appoitment, so it left to me to do it.

I have insurance at kaiser, and i know that I HAVE to make myself an appoitment. But I dont know the phone number to contact or who to call.
Does anyone have the slightest idea on how i can do this?
I live in Fresno, ca and i know we have a kaiser hospital here.

Even if i get a nutritionist, do you think that they will charge?
I dont have the money myself to do it, and if my parents said they will pay for it, i know that it wont last long. They would probably insist that they help me themselves, and eventually the "helping" would die down.

I'm not sure what the right answer is, but I think you need to sit your mom down and *get* her attention.

Bring her the phone.

After reading your other posts, it's clear you WANT to find a way to make this work, to lose weight, get fit AND be healthy...your parents need to see that.

Is there a family friend who can talk to your parents on your behalf?

Look in the telephone book to find the number to Kaiser. Then when you call simply say that you need to find a nutrionalist, and Kaiser will point you in the right direction by giving you another telephone number to call, or giving you a list of doctors that you can go see. And if you have insurance that pays for doctors, then that should cover the nutritionalist because it is a health issue. You just might have to pay a co-pay or something.

But that is just my opinion and those directions my be wrong, as I have no idea how Kaiser works. I agree with M2M mostly, just MAKE your mom understand that you need her help. But if you still can't do it, then do it on your own.

I dont know what else you could possibly try, but I know for a fact that a friend of mine went to see a nutritionist and they didnt even have to bill her insurance because the visit was only like 10 dollars! I went with her to the visit and she had a lot of really helpful advice. Hope this helps:)
