how to remove stretch marks?

hey there.
i've been finding all ways to remove those stretch marks on my upper arms.
are there any ways that u guys can share with me?
preferably natural ways.

i dont really like to use those kind of stretch-marks removing creams.
:D

stretch marks will fade on their own, it just takes time. not sure of a cream that will make them go away though.

Some of those creams can actually do more harm than good.

Stretch marks are basically a response to glucocorticoids (produced by the upper cortex of the adrenal glands and chemically classified as a steroid). When very high levels of this hormone exist in the body, the skin loses its ability to produce the necessary collagen and elastin fibres that allow the skin to stretch without damage. During rapid stretching or growth the elasticity in the skin breaks. That's why adolescents, pregnant women and weightlifters (mostly men, and predominantly in the upper arm/shoulder area) are prone to stretch marks.

Dermatologists can use lasers to help stimulate the skin to produce collagen, but that will cost you $$$$$$.

Shea and/or cocoa butter. I dunno what kind of access you have over there, but here you can go to Walmart and get a huge bottle of the two (and nothing else - so perfectly natural) for like $6. Then you just lube yourself up with the stuff twice a day or so (after showers ideally). Makes you smell like a chocolate bar, too. :D

Other than that, it's a matter of getting rid of bodyfat to allow skin to tighten up, and hope for natural fading to occur. Or you can do what's popular and get a ridiculous tan.

Also make sure you are getting all the good vitamins and minerals, and fish oil. And enough protein.

Some people claim that eating collagen helps, but afaict that's a load of crap.

I apologize in advance, but are you male or female? :sport2:

How old are you?

I made two posts reference stretch marks for another member a while back, that could help in understanding what stretch marks are:

I need a Chill Pill! :) I have one concern about something that crept up on me I wasn't expecting from working out: Stretch marks?! I have stretch marks on my traps?! Are they from lifting weights or something? I noticed them about 3 days ago, and got kinda freaked out about them. They don't look too appealing if you know what I mean, so I don't want any more (if there IS a way to prevent them?). This is not something that will stop me from working out (I gotta beat GT! ;)), its just something I don't really know much about. Have you ever gotten stretch marks before?

I am personally not aware of any supplements, but there could be a "topical" cream a dermatologist could prescribe or recommend for you to purchase that could "possibly" reduce the appearance some.

No, I have never experienced stretch marks. But, I know A friend of mine (that is male) that has, and my wife has stretch marks (in the lower abdomen area) due to child rearing.

IMO, stretch marks "can" happen due to the possibility of rapid tissue growth.

The skin is not elastic enough or not able to grow as fast as the underlying muscle (or fat) that has accumulated or grown underneath the skin surface.

It then can get stretched forming marks on the skin surface. I think it is logical with "some" persons to get stretch marks when body building due to the disparity in growth, genetics, and skin elasticity, between people in general. Some get them and some do not.

When my wife became upset with her stretch marks, and wanted to do something about them, she got some prescription cream (and some over the counter cream) and it seemed to help--lesson the appearance (and color) of the marks.

She also put creams and what not during pregnancy, but this didn't prevent them from occurring.

It is "possible" that given time that the stretch marks will disappear as you get a little (older and mature), since you are so young, and you continue to change your bodily composition. Your skin "may" just play some catch up.

Stretch marks can go away with time with some persons; however, there is a "chance" they may not.

I wouldn't do anything drastic at the moment. Keep an eye on them, and give it some time to catch up.

In general, stretch marks are basically the skin stretching and not biologically growing as fast as the underlying tissue, thus stretching in the process.

Thanks! So basically I just gotta wait it out, which is what I was expecting. I have heard of stretch marks due to pregnancy, but getting them from muscle underneath? I wouldn't think so, especially on my traps, that's why I was concerned about it. Hopefully I won't get too many more to the point where someone can see them at a distance from me. Thanks for the info Chillen!

You are welcome, young man.

I think its more common than you think. Its just the skin and underlining tissue not keeping in sync with each other. Like I said, there is a good probability that with you being so young (and the youth biological functions still within initial growth period) and the ability to recover/repair quickly they "could" disappear in time.

Keep Rocken-On.......

oh yeah, i'm a 17 year old female by the way.

so in another words, i should just focus on working out (& proper nutrition) in order to remove those stretch marks over time?

upon recalling back, there was a period of time whereby i got from 189 lbs to 156 lbs, which is what i am now. (i'm 5''5 by the way)

and do those stretch marks have anything to do with losing a lot of weight during that period of time? (about 1 year plus)

Yeah, if you want to ignore the part about moist skin being better able to handle/recover from stretching.

And not in order to remove them over time. The degree to which they will fade is, assuming you take care of your nutrition, fitness and moisturize regularly, largely determined by genetics. Just like their appearing in the first place.

Some people lose and/or gain huge amounts of weight in short periods of time and don't get any stretch marks. Most of us on the other hand, do. And they (stretch marks) never actually go away. They only fade (over time) to the point of being barely noticeable (if you're lucky). Other than that your options are surgery and tanning.

Bad News: Stretch marks are permanent scars. They never go away.

Good News: Over time their color fades and they may get a little smoother

okay, thanks for the whole info on stretch marks.
