How to lose muscle on bulky thighs and calves

Hey everyone,

PLEASE can someone tell me how to lose muscle on bulky thighs and calves.

I know it seems like a weird request, because most people welcome muscle and tone. But I think my legs have gone a tad beyond nice muscle tone. They're looking a bit manly/chunky/female body builder

It's such a huge dilemma for me, because my legs and upper body don't look like they belong to the same person. I've been trying to lose muscle from my thighs (mainly) and calves for 2 years, with no success. I use to love running and going on the elliptical trainer, but both just bulked my legs up so much. I've now given up on them and only go for 30min power walks most days.

BUT still no success!! And yes, I've always stretched for about 5-10mins after exercising. I stretch my calves, hamstrings, and the big muscle on the front on my thigh...These are my main areas of concern.

I'm 20yo, 5"2 and weigh 93 pounds. I have some wobbly bits on my legs (mainly inner thigh), but when I stand up my legs are really solid and my hamstrings stick out a lot (which I really hate!). When I sit down, they're not so solid.

When I pinch the front of my thigh, I get about 1cm of flesh/fat. So is that fat I can lose without bulking my legs up further?

But most importantly...how do I make them not so bulky/chunky?

And bulking up my upper body to even myself out isn't really an option for me )))

Please help!

Any suggestions would be really really appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I wouldn't say that you "ONLY" go for 30 minute power walks. That's a good workout for your legs, which is probably one of the reasons that you are staying so tone. At first, I was going to tell you to just avoid all leg workouts for a while, but then I read this...

I'm 20yo, 5"2 and weigh 93 pounds.

...and now I have a hard time believing that your legs are really so big that it's actually a problem. People are their own worst critics, so maybe that's where this is all coming from. I mean, 93 lbs is sooooo small, even for a 5' 2" female.

Have you considered swimming as your main source of aerobic activity? The swimmer's physique tends to be lean as opposed to bulky. I would say you mostly need to find a different form of exercise.

Wow. I'd have to agree that 93 lbs is really small for someone who is 5'2". Do you know what your BMI and/or your bodyfat percentage is?

I'm wondering if your legs aren't looking bigger to you because your top is proportionately much smaller?

It's hard to say for sure w/out seeing a photo of you. :)
