How to lose inches in your waist and hips

I have been constantly trying to lose weight and inches in my waist and hips, but the more I work on it, to worse it gets. I'm not one of those type who eat only a bagel a day, but I have tried numerous diets. I'm not focused on this goal because of appearance sake or anyting. My reason for trying to accomplish my goal is to be able to enter the service. My recruiter has told me that one of my problems with my weight and measurement occured because of my wieght room schedule caused my muscle to grow, which in turn caused my weight and measurements to increase. He said that I was doing too much in there for most girls. What should I do? I need all the help I can get. I need to loose 23lbs and/or 6 inches before I can go to MEPs.

The problem with the military (and many other government organizations and insurance companies) is they use BMI as the sole measure of ones health and fitness. BMI is just your weight divided by your height. It does not take into account body composistion, bone structure or anything else, which is stupid. They use it out of laziness, it is easy and determining bodyfat percentage is a difficult measurement to do acurately. If you have a large frame and/or a lot of muscle you will always come out on the wrong end of the scale. If you happen to have a very small frame and low muscle mass you can be quite fat (and unfit) and still have an acceptable BMI. Unfotunately there is nothing we can do to change all that, so you will have to loose weight or give up on the military. And it is not a one time thing either, they remeasure every 6 months and will discipline you if you fail at anytime in the future! So be prepared to fight that battle during your entire stint in the military.

did you ever hear of an author/fitness guru Susan Powter? She tells you how to eat, not just how much to eat…….maybe she’d help you, too – have a look for her books/tapes in the library or go on half.com. I sold my Susan Powter stuff there.

You have to change the types of food you eat as well as how much. Lots of fruits and veggies, water protein etc. Ask around for ways to fine tune ur diet. Talk to ABEAR and JPFITNESS.

As for toning, lighten up on the weight lifting and increase the cardio...spin classes work great for that area.

Are u sure about the military.....They can be ruthless about this sort of thing ...not passing a tape test can get u barred and flagged. Meaning u can't participate in advance classes, attend certain schools or even get promoted. (they say u cant be deployed while flagged but if they want to they send ya!) My husband has been fighting this for years. He has arms that can pick up am M1 and the legs to hold it there, but because his neck is slim (and waist a little rounder)...he manages to just squeak by. Even though his PTscores are the highest in his unit.

Not trying to discourage u just if u do decide keep ur eyes open. :D
