That´s a massive achievement and must mean you were taking good care of yourself during pregnancy. What helped you stay on track then?
I may not be the best person to answer this question because I definitely struggle but things that do help me are:
- Always drinking enough water. Soda is an additional treat, not a substitute for water.
- Eating good quality fruit regularly to feel like I´m treating myself.
- Finding or thinking up new recipes sometimes so normal food doesn´t start to feel boring and bland.
- Moving regularly in ways that feel good to me to remind me that this body is a good body which does its best for me.
hi LaMaria
Thanks for your message
. I think it’s more boredom or apathy than hunger that causes me to lose focus. I’m like “ah well, I achieved that, it felt good for a few days but I’m not so enthused about losing any more..”
it’s almost like I feel accomplished momentarily and kind of ease up on the determination, but then if I go off track for a few days I get frustrated with myself for not just persevering.. if that makes sense?
Definitely a mental thing rather than a physical thing where I need to feel full/need more flavours etc..
I like your last one about moving your body in different ways to appreciate and celebrate it.
Helping me lose the baby weight was my friends wedding at 8 weeks postpartum (I was a bridesmaid in the Bridal party) so maybe knowing I was going to be “on show” on this particular date?
i was very restrictive with cutting out all dairy (all chocolate was off the menu also) as I was still breastfeeding as well, and this was recommended to help with baby’s wind. So having those external motivators may have been the ticket.
Also it just seemed to fall off without a huge huge effort. I never had a goal weight as such in mind, I just wanted to look good in the bridesmaid dress, which I seemed to!
Perhaps I need to buy a pair of jeans that are a size too small and have them as a goal to fit into?
I don’t have any pressing health issues which mean I must restrict .. I hate to admit but I think it’s likely more of a vanity than a health thing when it comes to the reason I want to lose weight.
