How often do you buy clothes?

You simply don't need expensive clothes to look good.

I happen to buy A&F and Diesel, but it doesn't really impress anyone minus a select few spoiled brat girls. (who unfortunately I still like to impress at some level...but that's another story).

But once you get in shape? Who cares. Buy 3 white crew neck t-shirts and a pair of $30 jeans from a Nordstrom outlet, one pair of nice shoes and a $25 belt. Youll look like a million bucks. (guy advice at least)

Mal: I know you've lost a ton of weight. Do you mind telling me your size? I've never really been able to fit into clothes found at normal stores unless those stores carried larger sizes. I doubt I could fit into H&M stuff. I thought those clothes were geared more toward people who have narrow frames. I'm in 14s now, loose 14s, but I'm wicked rumpy. I totally like the trendy crap they have at H&M, but since I've never been able to wear most of it, that store isn't really on my radar.

I'm only 5'9 - and currently weight 193 (my measurements are somewhere in my diary ) - Depending on the manufacturer I can wear a 12 or 14 in bottoms... size 12 in jeans much to my amazement... 14 in dressier pants... Tops (I have really broad shoulders, long arms and a not small chest) so if it's a knit top, I can wear a Large or size 14ish) if it's a fitted top or a button blouse then a 16.. I just bought a skirt at H&M that is about 5lbs away from fitting that's a size 12...

Though it was really disheartening -I went into Express (and not limited express that my niece loved when she was a pre-teen) over the weekend, not fully understanding taht I'm about 20 years too old for that store... Not one thing in that store was above a size 12 one ofthe sales girls followed me around enquiring if I needed help with sizing -I took that to mean - lady get your fat ass out of the store :)

Price of the garment has nothing to do with quality - as long as it's a quality garment you can pay 5 dollars or 500 dollars - cheap looking clothes can also be bought for 5 dollars or 500 dollars... Don't judge a garment by the price... It should be - at any size - about how it fits you...

How old are you Michael?

And A&F!!

Gah, that shit is overpriced. Plus, their clothes are cut for making puny turds look large. I swear, none of their shit unless it's a sweater or jeans fit me appropriately.

I worked there in high school, so I had tons of it. But over the years, their stuff catered more and more to the skinny dudes.

Or, bigger dudes that like wearing tight clothes.... which I am not.

Garage sales!

Morning,

I hate (as in despise, as in loathe, as in really don't like!) clothes shopping, so I generally tend to get my stuff at high-end garage sales. The cost is usually less than $1 a piece and the end results look fantastic.

That being said, I did splurge on some new bras yesterday from retail - the 18 Hour Series look great and give excellent (needed!) support. A woman had commented to me in the locker room that because my shape had changed so much, my current bras were just 'way too big. Now, I can look, ahem, perky. :)

Enjoy,

Barbara
