How Much??

Hey I was wondering how much I would have to lose to go down a pant/jean size. I'm 5'2" and weigh 172lbs. I'm in a size 13(juniors) right now but would like to be a size 9 by Christmas- Is this possible? I've lost 5lbs since last thursday(11/30/06) and would like to know how much more I need to lose to go down a size. Any advice is greatly appreciated. TIA

It's so hard to say how many pounds equals a size. Everyone carries their weight differently...different positions on your body and different fat to muscle ratios. I, for example, am currently 5'6" and 166 pounds, and there is no way in hell I could fit into a size 13 juniors. I'd be lucky to fit into a 15. However, I would say that two sizes is a lot for three weeks. My advice? Don't worry about it, just do the best you can.

I see

Yeah, it's weird how everyone carries weight differently. I have an hourglass shape- i carry a lot of weight in my arms and also my hips/thighs, but stay a little smaller in the waist. Its got its good ponits and bad. I wish I would lose more in my arms but the trouble spots always seem the last to go.

I thought the general rule was 10 pounds loss per size. But that might be just and "old wives tale".

If this rule is right, I dont think it would be healthy to try to loose that much before Christmas. The healthy way to loose weight is "generally" 2 pounds per week max. Loose weight safely!

Ya know...it also depends on the brand of clothes. In my happy world I'm a size 12---but I really know that that is just in clothes from Dress Barn. I tried on some size 12's from Target and I could barely get them buttoned. So it's different bodies and differently cut clothes--so who knows. :)

Yeah it really depends on the brand for me too. I find that target clothes, especially their jeans run rather small, I always have to go up like 2 sizes than I do at kohls or other stores in the mall. I think that they should have universal sizes that everyone goes by. I always like going to stores where I might fit into a smaller size vs. the other way around, it's silly but makes me feel better about my weight and everything.

If you're losing 5 pounds a week, I wouldn't worry too much about what size you're going to be by christmas. People are going to notice how much better you look!
