How much is too much?

Right now I am walking to and back home from curves gym ( for 30 minute work out)...it is 2.50 miles if my fiance gives me a ride half way there..otherwise it is 3.4 miles.....I am going try and do it 5xweek no less than 3.....Yesterday I had the feeling that my body wanted to start running.....same thing happened today so I did the jog from one corner..then walk the rest...( not for long mind you b/c I developed killer shin splints)...however it felt wonderful!!!!.....I really want to one day be a jogger.
Also the last couples of evenings I can feel my body needing to get out and start running and sweating!....Is this nervous energy?....
This Is the thing..I weigh 308....if I do my exercise routine in the morning..and then maybe something at night ..am I pushing body too hard since I am so overweight?.....In the morning I do a total of 120 minutes of exercise.

hmm... I'm not sure what to tell you babe! It sounds like you are doing plenty of exercise, 2 hours in the morning - whew! way to go!!! maybe something you could do is step up the intensity of the workout a little bit.

I, like you, really wanted to turn into a jogger... but I hadn't run in my life ever without feeling out of breath and had never done it on my own... so I started slow... I find that counting my steps helps me to zone out and almost meditate while I exercise, so that's why these are all listed as steps (full steps, I count each time my left foot moves), and not a specific time...

So anyways, I started out walking for 120 steps, and then jogging for 30... after I got comfortable with that, I began walking for 120 and then jogging for 45... and then walk for 60s and jog for 30, and then walk for 60, jog for 45... so on and so forth... I have gotten to the point where I walk for 30-60 sec (whichever is needed for me to catch my breath and not gasp!) and I jog for 20, sprint for 10, jog for 20, sprint for 10 and then repeat...

I still have not gotten myself to the point where i can jog the whole thing... but I'm working on it =)

I'm by no means an expert on this topic, but I would say listen to your body, maybe add a little intensity (and not length), and see what happens... if it really wears you out you can always back down from it!
