How much for breakfast?

I have not been much of a breakfast person for a while now. I love doing brunch on weekends, but during the week I usually skip breakfast in the rush to get out the door in the morning. Well, I know that I should eat something in order to get the metabolism going in the morning and burn fat better all day long. So here is the deal, how much should I eat in order to accomplish this? Is a couple of bites of my son's leftover breakfast enough? He is 14 months and I do make him breakfast every morning, but often there will be 4 or 5 bites of pancake/eggs/oatmeal/etc left over when he is done. Or should I eat more? Remember, the idea is simply to break the fast and get the body working again. We are not talking about an energy giving breakfast. I usually work out mid to late afternoon so I have plenty of time to get my body what it needs in order to work out the best (and I do feed it right for the rest of the day - or at least I try).

Since nobody else is answering, I'll throw out my thoughts. If you follow the 6 small meals a day scheme of eating that seems to be popular, you would want to eat 1/6 of your daily caloric intake at that meal (or 1/x, where x is the number of meals you eat in a day). I would suggest soemthing like:
1/2 grapefruit, 1-2 eggs or oatmeal. Be careful with any processed food like pancakes, boxed cereal, or even oatmeal. Many are made with refined (sometimes called white or enriched on the label) flour, oils containing fatty acids, and added sugar in many forms. That's why I prefer to enphasize unadulterated foods, like eggs, fresh fruit, milk, etc.

Well Kalrog, what are your goals? Are you trying to lose weight? Are you into bulking right now? You seem to have enough energy to get you through the day and your workout and as long as you're getting your daily dose of vitamins, I probably wouldn't worry about it. Although, til you try it on a regular basis you won't have anything to compair it to (before and after effect). Just some thoughts anayhow... good luck to ya!
