How much fat should I be eating per day?

I'm thinking of changing my diet from a slimming club type 'points' system to basic calorie counting.

I get that I should be eating between 1,250 - 1,500 calories per day but how much fat should I stick too?

Obviously low fat is good but how much fat is low fat?

Thanks.

From the research I have done, we should be getting between 20-30% of your diet from fat per day. Fat is good, as long as you are eating the right kinds. I try to eat a quarter of an avocado per day in addition to my normal diet, and it puts me right in that range.

If you are eating between 1200 and 1500 calories per day, you should be getting between 240 and 450 calories from fat = 26 to 50 grams of fat per day.

If I have an avocado AND peanut butter...it puts me on the high side of that range ;) Too much cheese always puts me over my 30% per day.

Hope this helps.
