Routines

It's good that you realize that you need to take a couple days of rest to allow your body to recover. It doesn't really matter which days you choose as your "rest" days as long as you can feel that your body is responding well to your routine. The American Collge of Sports Medicine recommends that you alternate 3 to 5 days/week of cardio with 2-3 days/week of resistance training. However, if your goal is to lose weight and inches, you should focus on the upper end of these numbers. Listening to your body is just as important as working out. One tip may be to do cardio in the morning and then give yourself a break and compete your resistance training in the evening. This may decrease your chances of getting burned out too. Nonetheless, congratulations on implementing both cardiovascular and musculoskeletal training into your lifestyle!
