How many calories would i burn?

Hi! I'm 13, girl, and just wondering:
If i do HIIT as in one minute sprint and 1.5 minute jog, for say 10 mins and as i build my stamina i work my way up, how many calories would i burn in one session? Thanks :)

Calorie burn is dependent on your weight and your speed. A 150 lb person who sprints at a speed of 10 mph for one minute will burn around 20 calories. Dropping the speed to 8 mph drops it to 15 calories, jogging 10 calories, walking around 5 calories.

Your recovery might be a little high. I saw this little table that might be of interest:

Code:
[B]WEEK WARM UP RUN JOG REPEAT COOL DOWN TOTAL[/B]
 1 5 min. 1 min. 4 min. 2 times 5 min. 20 min.
 2 5 min. 1 min. 4 min. 3 times 5 min. 25 min.
 3 5 min. 1 min. 4 min. 4 times 5 min. 30 min.
 4 5 min. 1.5 min. 4 min. 2 times 5 min. 21 min.
 5 5 min. 1.5 min. 4 min. 3 times 5 min. 26.5 min.
 6 5 min. 1.5 min. 4 min. 4 times 5 min. 32 min.
 7 5 min. 2 min. 5 min. 3 times 5 min. 31 min.
 8 5 min. 2 min. 5 min. 4 times 5 min. 38 min.

Don't forget to feed your body. Don't go on mad young girl diets - you'll lose muscle not fat. Check out the nutrition forums.

I don't think there's anything wrong in getting into fitness young and getting yourself nice and fit, but don't obsess on how you look. Enjoy learning to eat right, enjoy the exercise and enjoy learning about your body in fitness, and without thinking about it the shape of your body will fall into line.

^ Stop hating your body. Easier said than done, but as someone who used to have every insecurity known to man, I can say from experience that when you hate your body, you tell yourself things like: "If I just lose 5 more pounds I'll be happy." And then you lose 5 more pounds. And you're not happy. And then you say really crazy things like: "If I just lose 5 more pounds I'll be happy!" And then you lose 5 more pounds. And you're not happy. And then you say completely stupid things like: "If I just lose 5 more pounds I'll be happy!!!

Have you seen the movie Mean Girls? There's a scene in it where they're all standing in front of the mirror looking for things about their bodies to complain about. When you're insecure about your body, or outright hate your body, it doesn't matter what you look like, you'll find something to complain about. Right now, I'm not overweight but I am overfat. That's an objective fact. But I've never felt more confident with my body image. Back when I was in high school, I had the lean "Fight Club" look all the teen boys are crazy about having, and repeatedly got "Wow!" type responses when people caught a glimpse of my muscles. And at that same time I had horrible body image issues. I thought I wasn't muscular enough, I wasn't ripped enough, etc etc. I probably looked the best I have in my entire life, and yet I felt the worst about my looks. I don't want anyone to go through that. Exercise out of love for yourself, because it's good for you, because it'll improve your bone density and musculoskeletal health and coordination and cardiorespiratory function and hormones (I hear 13 year old girls have those). Eat healthily because it's good for you. Don't punish yourself for not looking a certain way, but reward your body for being yours by nurturing it with what you put into it and what you do with it.

Thanks for your advice.. But seriously, i am fat..

On my bmi calculator.. i am healthy weight but also on the overweight side of healthy..
I'm 130 pounds, 5''2 and 13 years old
I have all theh reasons in the world to hate my body weight and image..
BUT.. I had a friend who is anorexic. i KNOW i will NEVER become as skinny as her because its just so un attractive! And i alread know my goal weight,
But thanks anyway :)

The principle is to burn more calories than what you actually consume. So it is better to monitor the calorie intake regularly.

Ok, by the calories 'burnt', my BMR must be included, because there's no way to burn more than 1400 calories, umm..its impossible..
I'm right?^^

It would be better if you tell us about your current weight. I would like to give you an example so that it would be clear to you to do exact calculation. Look at the chart of the result of other cardio exercises and if possible mix it up with your daily workout routine:

• A 145-lb person can burn 300 calories by jogging at 5.2 mph for 30 minutes.
• A 145-lb person can burn about 300 calories by running on elliptical calories in 30 minutes.
• A 145-lb person can burn about almost 400 calories by swimming in 30 minutes.
• A 145-lb person can burn about 180 calories by walking in 30 minutes.
• A 145-lb person can burn about 330 calories by jumping on the rope in 30-minute.

This is simple example. What I like to recommend you to mix up your current workout routine with more cardio if you really want to burn more calory. It would be motivational and more importantly you would not feel bore.

Also start with some Cardio. aerobic generates benefits for your mind, body and heart. A stroll or a run enhances your focus and feelings, decreasing stress and launching hormones.
