How long would it take to lose 45 pounds?

Hello all,

I have just begun taking this all seriously and have started to notice that I am losing 4 to 4.5 pounds a week. Is it realistic for me to think that I will continue losing this much...will I be able to lose 45 in ten weeks?

I am eating healthily and exercising six days a week.
My gym plan is as follows:

3 x cardio (moonwalker machine) for 40 mins and 400 -450 situps for abdominals (combined lower and higher abs)
3 x musculation (whole body plus abdominal work out as above)

May soon do Pilates and Yoga on my day off too.

As you can tell I am now going hardcore on this....i am off travelling to Thailand on 16th June for a month so need to see if I can shift some weight!

Could ppl please share their opinions on this? I am 5ft 7 inches and 21 years old. I weigh currently at 180 pounds and wanna be 130-140 pounds.

Thanks every body! ;)

a sustained 4 -5 lb per week weight loss would be pretty much impossible and really unhealthy given your current weight... the first couple of weeks you might be shedding water weight -which happens when people start eating healthier (least i think that's the reason) but once you get into it - 1 percent of youor body weight a week is what is practical and healthy...

HI there,

While recognising that body image is entirely individualized and we all feel comfortable with our bodies at different sizes, 130 pounds for someone 5'7" is not a particularly healthy weight! The upper range of your goal [140 pounds] and above would be a healthier goal to aim for and a much more realistic weight to maintain. I am not implying you or anyone lacks the commitment or will power to reach this goal; however, your BMI would be on the lower end of the scale and you are likely to lose a great deal of muscle mass with this significant loss, especially if you try to lose more than 1.5 pounds a week. You might be surprised with how different your body looks with even a 10 pound weight loss. My best advice is to shoot for losing 1-1.5 pounds a week, maintain your fitness regime [its best for women to do cardio no more than 4-5 times a week and lift weights 3 times a week] and most importantly, try to relax and not to become stressed when the scale isnt in your favor one week. Fluctuations in weight are normal when taking into account water weight, salt intake, etc. Base your results on inches lost and how your clothes fit. TOo many people focus on the numbers on the scale! Best of luck
