How Hypnosis Helps

First, on behalf of all of the practicing, sincere hypnosis professionals, I'm truly sorry that this wonderful, natural tool is so often portrayed as mere entertainment, usually comic or sexual, making it that much harder to explain its real benefits. Here's the absolute truth. Hypnosis is a state of mind. It seems to bypass certain normal functions of the awake brain, allowing a special depth of focus and intensity of imaginary experience. This state of mind makes it possible to add new thoughts into a person's previously learned thought patterns, as though they were learned from a very important life experience.

What's so great about that? Well, emotions and behaviors don't just materialize out of nowhere. Every feeling and every action has its start in a thought routine. The routine is called on when we are confronted with a situation, object or person that has some similarity to what has already been experienced. The similarity triggers the routine which usually ends up in the same emotion and/or behavior. If that end result works against you, why not add some new branches to the routine to make it come out better? That's where hypnosis comes in.

Gotta go now.

So are you suggesting that people use hypnosis as a tool to lose weight? Although I definately believe it could work it takes a very open mind and lots of commitment. I used self hypnosis to get through labor with my daughter without using pain meds. It did work but it took months of preparation. People were amazed that I was calm and serene even during the transition stage of labor which is the most painful. It could work for anyone but definately isn't for everyone :)
