How fast will I lose it?

Okay, so I went to college for 3/4 a year (freshman 15, ya know?) came back for spring break, tried on my summer clothes to go on vacation... and they're a little snug. I'd say I gained about 5 pounds in the stomach area. Well, my immediate plan is:
run, Swim, do yoga, spinning... and just not eat much at all. Salad, vegetables, maybe a little fruit and possibly a piece of grilled chicken.

I know it may sound like I am over-reacting but I try SO HARD not to gain any weight. I mostly eat healthy and work out at least 30 minutes 5 times per week. And still I gain weight. So... how fast will it take me to lose it? I want to lose like 10-15 pounds just so that I can definitely fit into my clothes when I come home for the summer.

the main problem i see with what you wrote is: "and just not eat much at all". that is the WRONG thing to do! starving yourself will lead you to lose weight initially but then it'll stop cos your body will be in starvation mode and no matter what you eat or how healthy it is your body will store it all up as fat cos it'll think there's some sorta famine goin on.

people don't get fat by eating too much! people get fat by eating too much of the wrong kinds of food. when it comes to fruit and veg you can pretty much eat and eat til you can eat no more! add to that some grains, oats, seeds, nuts, fish, lean meat and you can eat loads, eat regularly (very important!) and still lose weight.

how fast will it come off? well since you sound not terribly overweight you should aim for 1-2lbs a week.

good luck!

(i'm new here btw!) :D

By eating less, you will only slow your metabolism down and force your body into starvation mode in which it will hold on to every last bit of fat it can.
Your best bet is to eat every 2-3 hours, a total of 5-7 meals. Include a serving of protein (egg whites, chicken, protein powder, tuna, etc.) with each meal - that will also help boost your metabolism.
As Neenaw said, people eating too much of the wrong foods is what causes weight gain. All you have to do is make better choices and you'll have no problem losing the weight.

I actually have a lot of experience w/ the freshman 15. My first semester I gained 15 pounds (all from alcohol, actually). I stopped drinking 2nd semester, changed my diet (in the dining halls, I'd fill up 1/2 my plate w/ veggies, 1/4 of the plate w/ meat and 1/4 w/ starches), and I lost 20 pounds in one semester. And I started going to the gym - I only did about 20 minutes, 4 days a week, but the weight really came off.

Yea, I think my extra pounds must come from alcohol. The school I go to is in the middle of no where... people do nothing except for drink. I guess I have no choice but to quit all together though. Not gonna be easy...
