How efficient is my weight loss technique?

Intro:I am a 5'9" 17 year old, and i weigh about 180 lbs. i've lost about 7-8 pounds recently, but i feel like its taking forever. My body fat is about 22% which is terrible. Unfortunately, i do have some man boobs, and im looking to get rid of that, and to get rid of belly fat. I have a big upper body, but a very skinny lower body. I'm looking to get my body fat% to about 6%, and also trying to tone up my muscles. I'm trying to get my weight to about 140-145 lbs.

Goal: To lose a lot of weight and tone down, and to put on muscle on my chest and arms.

Food:Recently, I've been eating pretty healthy. I will usually eat every 2-3 hours and eat fiber bars, boiled egg whites, oatmeal, fruits, grilled cheese sandwich (wheat bread and 2% cheese), and occasionally just veggie delights from subway, and also drink a whole lot of water.

Workout: I've recently just started taking a supplement called No-Xplod before my workout, and been taking Myoplex 42g of Protein after working out. I usually work out every other day. I try to keep a 48 hour break in between my workouts. When i work out, i start off by doing 20 minutes of cardio, than move on to working out my arms, chest, shoulders, and occasionally quadriceps. My workout intensity on a scale of 1-10 is probably about a 6 or 7.

Final Review Question: Is everything i'm doing correct? Anything i should change in my diet or my workout? Are the stuff im taking pre/post-workout good and safe? Anything new i should try or anything wrong with what im doing? Any comments or advice will be much appreciated.

Any feedback?

Well, I'm not knowledgeable on the exercise so I don't know that end.

But I can tell you that the weight loss will take time. 1% of your body weight a week is the safe amount. You are also still growing/changing at 17 so you have to consider that as well.

As fat as your belly and manboobs, the body removes and puts on weight in a genetic order..first in last out. So, the only real way to get it gone is continue to lose weight.

Hey MS00... I may have trouble finding this thread again, because I just looked under "New posts"... but I think you are right on track. I am 5'9", and 29 years old. But I was 5-9 @ 17 years old in high school and I was a wrestler. I was 160 pounds, and had a decent 6-pack etc. I used wrestling as my workout, and also ran on the weekends. Food is key, get a healthy diet, and keep track of calories for maybe a week total (you don't have to do this forever)... just long enough to show you what you are eating.. record EVERYTHING you are eating! Best of luck

Hey MS00,

I'll have to start by saying that getting your body fat from 22% to 6% is gonna take some serious dedication. Can I ask you why 6% is your goal?

In my opinion, I would ditch the NO-Xplod. Totally unnecessary and I'm not sure about the safety of most supplements of that type. If anyone else has some more info on it, please post here! Your money would be much more wisely spent on high quality food!

It's a bit hard to tell if you're doing the 'right' thing workout-wise, just because I don't know much detail about your workouts.

I would suggest ordering your workout as follows: 5-10 min warm-up, resistance workout, cardio, stretching.

As for what exercises.... make sure that you do more legs than just the 'occasional' quads exercise. Also, make sure that you do back exercises; try not to just focus on the muscles in the front of your body. If you want your body to be balanced, you have to work all muscle groups.

Good luck and keep asking questions!

Try to drink the green tea without sugar daily if really want to lose your weight and do daily walk after dinner...

walk? good.

Green tea? unless you are replacing sugary soday with non-sugar green tea..it's not really going to do jack for weight loss.
