So i went out on Saturday night with some friends and had about 5-6 drinks...mostly just vodka. I weighed in the following day as the same weight as the day before (255.6) then i went about my sunday as normal, went to the gym, ate okay - a little nibbling here or there, but nothing to make the scale read what it did this morning. It is now monday and the scale is reading 258.8. Really? i know i didnt eat that much to gain 3+ lbs in a day, is this just my body holding on to water because i was dehydrated from the alcohol? please someone help me understand this cause im freaking out.

Water + Calories (that stuff isn't 0 cal)

Also remember that a sudden flux like that is not uncommon. This is why you should only take the weight done once a week as a measure of your weight loss, instead of every day.

I agree with the above poster. However, in my opinion if you use the proper mindset and understand how your weight will fluctuate it's ok to weigh everyday. Just give it a day or two and you will see that you didn't damage your diet that much. A pound of fat is 3500 calories. So one night of drinking itself shouldn't cause several pounds of fat to go up that high.
