Hey everyone!

I'm new here :) Obesity runs in my family, and also alot of associated medical problems. I've always been the smallets one in my family, and valued healthy eating and exercise, but lately I've taken a turn for the worst that I'm hopeing to correct!

I'm a jr in college, and it's not exactly easy to eat healthy when you have to eat in a college caf everyday. Along with that, and all the other pressures of living at school, I also started taking birth control pills which have also caused me to gain weight. Over the past year or so I've gained around 35 that I'm now hopeing to lose. My only problem is that I seem to have zero motiviation.

I go to bed telling myself that tomorrow will be the day I start eating better, and going to the gym. Then tomorrow comes and I have a paper to write, or have to work late, or am just to tired to even think of dragging myself to the gym.

So if anyone has any motivation tips that would be great!

just do it................really make yourself do it and then it will come easier.... and don't start tommara start now, right now!!! College is a easy time to gain weight, but you can do it if you want to, as far as the cafe goes try to pick the best of the worst if ya can........it ani't easy but you can do it.....I got faith in ya!!!!!

YES- college is a feeding area and you do gain weight-but, seriously-the final word is "JUST DO IT" ya, you will have to accept the fact that it will get frustrating-that it is going to be hard, but that it is worth it in the end.

but...here's my one tip--having a physical plan in hand is a great idea. the ONLY way i know how to lose weight is by planning out my goals IN DETAIL. this involves a lot of research-knowing you r BMI, knowing how many calories you require in a day, making a decision about exactly how many of those you will cut down on, how much excersize you have planned in a week. ect... fitday.com can help you out with that, as well as this site too.

Thanks for replying :)

I'm happy to say that I finally dragged my lazy butt to the gym today! I think going the first day (today!) was half the battle for me. Once I start going a couple of times and make it more of a habit it won't feel like such a hassle. I'm so glad I went too, it always makes me feel so much better. Not just better about myself for going, but I sleep better, have more energy, and have more motivation to eat right for the rest of the day.

I think typing on here will help me too. I've never really told anyone about my weight loss goals before. I think I'll start a journal on here, that would probably help me alot.

you have to eliminate tomorrow from your vocabulary and do what you need to do -- today... because there will always be an excuse tomorrow and tomorrow never comes... :D Just DO IT :D

Once you know what your own motivation is... you can keep yourself going.. it's the finding that motivation and taking the first step that's the hardest...

Tell yourself Weight loss is in the now and that belief will shape what and how much you choose to put in your mouth right now.

How do I stay motivated? Well...I think we all go through a phase now and then where we get discouraged and backslide a bit...like I just did. It really stinks admitting that you have gained! UGH! Someone else (I don't remember who) said that once you get yourself pointed in the right direction, all you have to do is keep walking! So...point your nose in the right direction and stay that way! It actually encourages me to think about it that way.
