How do you do push-ups without falling down?

I need to do push-ups for my fitness testing at school. but i really suck at pushups....I can do like 11 and then I fall down...we're not allowed to fall down and then get back up.
But how do I get my arms stronger so I can do more pushups? And does anyone know how to jump reeaaaallllllly far for long jump?

Please help me on this!

Practice them. Do as many as you can, then rest 30 secs to a minute. Repeat this for 3-4 sets every other day. Without getting too complicated, the single best way to get better at any sport activity is to practice it exaclty how it is supposed to be done and give it everything you have got when you do.

It could be a problem with the rest of your body (ie your core, shoulders). If you bottom out at 11 push-ups, do 10 and then hold the upright position for 20-30 sec. Other than that, just practice the things you want to get better at. A lot.

What kind of push-ups do you need to do for your test? knees/toes? For the most part, slowly progres yourself into the push-up you need to do... If you need to do it on your toes, go on your toes, but find something to do push-ups on where it puts your hands higher than your feet... and then as you progress, keep finding objects that are lower than before, until you're on the ground....

Start with modified push ups. (Knees down and ankles crossed). When you are about to complete 3 full sets of 12 reps, begin to perfrorm standard ones. As one post said, your core and shoulders are goig to play a crucial part.

You have to make your body lighter by tensing it as much as you can.

When protesters dont want the police to move them they completely relax their bodies so they get heavier. You should do the opposite so you get lighter!

Really!?! Does your weight change on the weighing machine when you tense your body? I guess not!

thanks for all your replies! i'm going to keep practicing until i get maybe 25 pushups and for the other fitness stuff, i'll practice it also 8). thank you again =)

I think you could probably jump really far if you shouted "By the Power of Greyskull!" while holding a mighty blade in the air.

Note: Results will vary based on mental state and/or location

In seriousness, though, what they said...practice. Specific training is the best way to increase your ability to do anything.

What you should do is similar to what they call a drop set in weight training. After you complete your 11 or so push ups, then use either a stairway, or a stable object that is elevated from the ground. This will make them easier for sure. If you can't find anything like this where you're exercising, then use a wall. You can even switch to modified push ups, by getting on your knees. Just make sure that the rest of your body is still straight. After about a month of this, the amount of regular push ups you can do will increase. Do this about 4 times per week. Trust me. This will work! Good luck.

Don't train to failure. That's a common mistake.

if you can do 11 before hitting failure, then I'd suggest 5x5 or 3x8. Every week or two add a rep to each set.

But don't train every day. Muscles grow at rest, when they can rebuild, not at work. Eat healthy, train over other day and you should be good to go.

you could try Pavel's technique the 'grease the groove'

basically if you want to get more push ups you practice them all the time

here's the 'grease the groove' technique

start with two set of 5 to six reps at different times of the day(sort of morning one set; evening another set)

gradually build up your sets to 5 to 6 per day everyday
if you need further info make a google search for "grease the groove"

umm i can do 1 hand push ups, and i got 65 pushups done, hoefully i can get sum more
