How do u know what stage ur in? fat loss vs getting ripped

I hear some people say that they just need to get ripped and others say they still need to focus on fat loss. How do I know what stage im at?

Getting ripped is getting the last bit of fat off, fat loss would be prior to that when you are dieting but not down to the minutae. Getting ripped takes more than super strict diet- and it is strict! It takes some water, salt reduction, hardcore high intensity exercise, etc.

People get ripped for shows, photo shoots, what have you... people losing fat are not trying to get down to the bone so to speak.
You rip or shred to see all muscle definition. It is exhausting and very mentally and physically challenging.

Mel is right. You say losing fat v getting ripped, when to get ripped you need to decrease the percentage of body fat you have. If you look it up, or even ask people if they know. People who appear ripped have a very low percentage of body fat and therefore the definition of the muscles is much more visable.

I'd say there is no magic number because of the role genetics often plays.
Some people, myself included, might be below 8% BF but not be "ripped" though I have friends at about 8% who have very well defined muscle.

I have heard a lot of people say <10% so that might be a good average, but keep in mind that you personally could vary.

While I do agree with Mel, I wanted to point out too that you need to have some lean muscle mass on your frame in order to get the ripped look.

A man who's 125lbs, 5'9" and 8% body fat will look scrawny.
A man who's 175lbs, 5'9" and 8% body fat will look awesome...lean, chisled muscles...i.e. RIPPED...SHREDDED.

yeah, I agree with Mel and Malk. I think too many people try to get ripped without enough muscle to really pull it off.
