How beneficial?

I have been doing situps and pushups each night for about two weeks. It's not much but I am decided to do this for a month and then really start working out. I have been doing as much as I can which is about 50 situps and almost 40 push ups(About 20 of each when I first started). I just want to know how beneficial it is to me.

Also. What are some good work out I can do without any equipment and in my home?

Sit ups really don't do that much. Sure, they work your abs, but not many people actually require that much extra strength there. Plus, simply working your abs won't give you a 6-pack, so scratch that off the list too.

As for pushups, they're a good workout for your triceps and chest, but you shouldn't ONLY be doing those. You should be working out the rest of your arms (and the rest of your body) together so that you don't become disproportionally strong in only one muscle and movement. (By only doing one type of exercise, you're largely training only to be able to do that motion.)

A good thread for a list of exercises that you can do with minimal equipment, go here:
Exercises

I agree with Jrahien - these 2 exercises in themselves won't give you great results, but if you definitely only want to do these to start off with then at least try different push up and sit up variations to mix things up a bit. With the push ups you could do wide stance, narrow stance, staggered, incline, decline, one arm on a bench the other on the floor, legs crossed, bomb divers and I'm sure there's many more. With the sit ups try adding a weight if it sees to be getting too easy. Also put your legs up on a chair so that they are at 90 degrees and then try sitting up - this is a lot harder than legs on the ground. Don't forget to work your obliques and lower abs too with bicycle crunches and lower body curl ins. There are heaps of variations - just google it!
