I have been sneaking around the forums for a while now to try and get inspiration to start losing weight. Everybody's stories and pictures have inspired me, but I always seem to give up on the first week... So I finally decided to sign up and get the guts to ask you guys some questions and get your opinions and answers on the journey that I wish to take.

My current weight is 268, My first question to you guys would have to be about the ugly stretch marks that I have, Will those disappear, or at least look unnoticeable when I lose weight? My second question is, Will I have a lot of flabby skin when I lose weight?, and if so. How do I get rid of it?

Right now my goal weight loss will start off at 20 pounds, Please throw some tips at me, answer my questions, and tell me what I should work on. Thank you for reading. :)

I'm sorry that I don't have any definite answers for you, other than yes, you will most likely still have stretch marks afterwards and you may or may not have loose skin. Everyone's bodies respond so differently to weight loss that it's very hard to say. Ususally, the younger you are and the slower your rate of weight loss is, the better in terms of allowing your skin to tighten up as you lose weight. Stretch marks usually look less "angry" over time, so there is a chance that they might look less visible later on.

I know it's hard, but try to look at the positives for your health rather than the negatives when trying to lose weight.

I have lost about a 100lbs now and the way my body has dealt with the stretch marks and loose skin is kind of what I expected, not good. The stretch marks I have are more visible, the skin is loose. Honestly though I could care less. I am so much healthier than I was and I feel fantastic. Don't give up on losing weight. Once you get through the first couple weeks it gets easier. Stay away from temptation and do not under any circumstances let anybody else put you down on your progress. Good luck!

I started my journey @ 308.6lbs in February and am down 65-70lbs depending on the day. So far I have no noticeable loose skin but I am certain my stretch marks are here to stay. While I was bothered by that at first, it tells a story and I am ok with them now.

I wish you strength for your journey!

You will without a doubt hit rough patches, I know I have. Push through them and take the time to enjoy the little things. For example, I leaned back in my office chair one day at work and realized HEY! My gut doesn't touch my desk anymore. I even took a pic and posted it. It was little and it seemed silly, but it helps to stop and appreciate things like that.

Most recently, was me stopping my cardio not because I couldn't go anymore.... but because my Ipod playlist was over.

Best advice I have(and I am still on my journey) is just appreciate the changes and transformations you go through. It all will come with time and dedication.

I hope I have the chance to find out if it will be an issue for me to deal with. If it is, I'll ponder that issue when the time comes. I figure if I don't lose weight, there's no chance either will go away.
