Holding Myself Accountable...my journal

I just joined up today, and I figure it's as good a time as any to start my journal! It's time to start holding myself accountable and GET THIS WEIGHT OFF!

A little bit of background...I was always thin growing up, as a kid, teenager, and young adult I could eat whatever I wanted and never put on weight. I gained 50 lbs with my first pregnancy, but I lost it all very quickly afterward. When my daughter was 4-5 months old I weighed 120 lbs.

I got pregnant with my second daughter, and again packed on 50 lbs. Only this time I haven't been able to get it off, and my daughter is nearly 2 1/2! I weigh more right now than I ever have (not counting pregnancy) and I'm SICK of it. I would ideally like to lose 35 lbs....that would be a great weight for me to be at.

I think one of my main problems right now is that I need to SEVERELY cut back on sugar/processed junk. My meals are generally pretty healthy, I do a lot of cooking from scratch and eat lots of fruits and veggies, legumes and whole grains. Not a lot of red meat. The sugar, though...that'll get me every time. I am making an oath in writing right here that I am QUITTING soda. No diet, no regular.

Anyhow, here are some goals for starting out:
-Get some kind of exercise at LEAST 3 days per week. ANY kind of exercise. Walking daily would be great to start with. The dog needs more walks anyhow.
- Drink at least 8 glasses of water per day
- Cut back (A LOT) on white sugar/processed crap.
- Keep daily caloric intake between 1200 - 1550

Congrats on joining and deciding to get healthy!

Accountability was key in my weight loss too.
The best way to cut out sugar is to cut out pre packaged foods of all kinds. Fresh everything.

Good luck!

Thanks, Faith! Yeah...with meals I usually do okay with fresh foods...we don't eat packaged stuff for dinners/lunches/etc. The thing that really gets me is CANDY and COOKIES...and the evil soda! They've got to go!

mm sugar.

I reccomend Chromium pills to help with the cravings! I've been taking the the whole time I have been losing weight and they help alot. Check it out at your local drug store, or online.

Day 1 went pretty well. I did pretty good on the food...didn't get much exercise. I did a little bit of gardening, so at least I was digging/moving around outside. Tomorrow I will try to get a real workout in at some point.

I ate:

Breakfast - coffee (2% milk and vanilla extract), oatmeal with 2% milk and raisins

Snack - Carrot sticks and a slice of monterey jack cheese

Lunch - Chicken noodle soup (w/veggies)

Snack - Banana and green tea

Dinner - Lime pepper chicken, rice, salad

8 glasses of water throughout the day

Brr! I almost had to turn the air conditioner on this week! It's been in the high 80's here all week. It's nice here during the winter but summer is HORRIBLE! 125 degrees F!

Today has been alright...I haven't eaten as much as I should. It's been a busy day of running around doing errands. I'm nervous because we're going to the county fair this afternoon/evening and all there is to eat there is TERRIBLE (but oh-so-yummy) fair food. I might try to smuggle in some fruit or veggies to munch on to try to keep me away from the bad stuff. Wish me luck!

I'm having surgery next week and I won't be able to eat solids for 2 days, so perhaps that will kick start some weight loss!
