Hiya.

My name is Braden. I am 14 and am really into music and plan to attempt make a living out of becoming a musician.

I am here looking to lose weight.. like a lot of weight. I currently am hovering around 250-260 pounds. Last I got weighed was 251 pounds.

I am 5'10- 5'10 1/2 also.

I believe the reason why I am grossly overweight for my age is because I used to steal pop and food at night.. like 2-3 pops a night and a bowl or two of cereal. I've stopped taking food at night lately, but no real progress.

I'm not sure what fruits I should eat... and what I should do for exercise. I'm not much of a runner because of asthma, but I wanna start walking or something...

Basically, I really wanna lose weight. I have no goals, I just wanna lose weight. I just lack the motivation and I don't know how to start losing weight.

Thanks, :)

Braden

Hey Braden!

Welcome dude. Im also new here and I'm also a musician. It's really awesome that you've made the decision to do something!

I have a few tips for you that really helped me get off to a great start.

1. Set yourself a goal to lose your first 10lbs. You really need something to work towards or else you're not aiming for anything. And if you dont aim for anything you wont hit anything!

2. Switch everything you drink to water! This has been one of my biggest changes and its worked pretty well. I used to drink too much coffee with sugar but all that has changed to just water. Water is really, really good for you and will help you lose weight. It stops those cravings for food. So rather than grabbing an unhealthy snack, grab some water! Drink lots of it!

3. Weight training! Before I really got going with this I used to hate cardio but I really enjoyed weight training. Weight training is great because you see results quite quickly and its fun! By results I dont necessarily mean weight loss. When you start out you might only be able to do 10 push ups but by the next week you can do 15 with ease! That's big motivation right there!

4. Yes, start walking! Walking is great because it gets your hearr rate up and the blood flowing. You will get back from a walk feeling great and alive. Like you've really done something and walking will turn into jogging which will turn into running! I dont know how bad you asthma is but I also used to suffer from asthma. I have grown out of it now but as you start getting fitter and stronger it shouldn't bother you as much. But talk to your doctor.

Last and most important.

5. Dont focus on weight loss but rather on your general health! I think too often guys like us get tunnel visioned in weight loss and its all we can think about. That gets really tiring and when we dont see results quickly we get discouraged. So rather than watching the scale, look at whats really happening. Do you feel a lot better? Can you do more push ups and run a lot further than you could before? If you start focusing on that rather than the numbers on the scale you'll be in for a much, much more rewarding journey and the weight loss that will come with it will be a bonus!

Remember its a life style change you will have to make. But in just a few short weeks you will be glad you did!

Im not weight loss expert but doing these few things really helped me get on track and you have me full support with this!

Good luck man!
