Today is saturday march 17,2007

I decided to have one last binge over this weekend before my slow transformation begins

my current weight (don't have a scale so i'll guess at about 310)

my goal weight by my 22nd birthday on august 9th 2008 (220)

according to the fitday software,i have 73 weeks in which to complete this transformation

pardon my newness to this whole "giving a damn about your health" thing

but according to the fitday software i have the following rules to abide by:

1.616 calorie restriction per day

2.i have to burn 3765 calories a day

3.i can eat 3148 calories a day

4.i have to lose 1.23 lbs a day

now can somebody please get me started on what to eat and what exercises to do in the gym on monday

Welcome to WLF! This is a struggle for all of us, but there are lots of knowledgeable people here, who are ready and willing to lend support and motivations.

But I refuse to call you FatAss -- So I'm going to call you HitTheGym instead.

A good place to start would be to take a couple of hours and read through Steve's journal. There's LOTS of good info in there. As you can see, he has a huge fan club, and the ladies adore him, but he dispenses some of the best advice I've ever had on losing weight, cardio, and strength training.

Today is March 19,2007

This is the first day on my road to my transformation.

I'll admit I probably overenjoyed my weekend binge a little too much, but today I got up at about 5:30 a.m. got washed, brushed teeth, etc threw on my gym clothes, called the gym........only to get no answer.

So i called again at about 7:30 because I wanted to find out how much membership fees were,I think i'll call them again at 8 or 8:30,I hope they're not closed because of that damn ice out there.

It would be a real buzzkill if it was, anyway i do have other stuff to do today as well(cash my paycheck,go take a drug test for this temp agency i'm trying to get work with)

So far,all i've had to eat or drink was a 12 0z cup of water,i have pop tarts in there, but i don't whether or not to eat them or make some white bread toast with butter.

When or if I do get to the gym today,I found myself pondering what exactly I am going to do when I get there,I originally planned to just get on the bike for a smooth cardio workout for a hour but I figure I probably need to do more than that everyday to get in shape, maybe i'll ask the some of the guys there what they recommend for a beginner.

Another thing on my mind is what exactly I should eat for lunch or dinner, some recommendations from you guys are very welcome.

For lunches and dinners it's really personal preference about what you like...

I'd suggest sticking with lean proteins, turkey breast, chicken breast, pork tenderloin, even lean beef - or fish -fish is good for ya... that should be a portion of your plate - then vegetables - like some fresh broccoli steamed or roasted, and a whole grain carb... brown rice, whole grain cous cous or some other grain...

So about lunch and dinner

I have a whole lot of leftover fried chicken and brown rice from this weekend, would any of that be good enough to eat ?

well - if you remove the skin from the fried chicken.. my personal belief is you want to stick with boneless skinless, baked, broiled, roasted chicken and not add in the extra fat fried gives you.

brown rice should be good though

First I want to say good luck, with hard work and determination youll do great :)

Whole grains, lean meats and veggies are obviously good choices. My husband is currently deployed so I'm cooking for one...which can sometimes be hard...I buy individually wrapped boneless chicken breasts and tilipia(fish) fillets. I thaw them out during the day while I'm at work and bake them for dinner at night...mix with veggies or brown rice and it makes a great meal for one :)

Change your white bread to whole wheat and oatmeal or cereal w/ fat free milk for breakfast...also fruit makes a great snack :) peanut butter and bananas hold me over during snack time.

Good Luck, stick with this site and hold on to your goals and youll do fine.

Just got back from the gym,I put in about a hour there.

Just to show how outta shape I was,the first thing i started using was the step machine(where its like your climbing up a mountain)i put in how many calories i was supposed to cut down on (616) like an idiot and after i cut about 100 calories i got off the machine to find my equilibrium SHOT. :( :(

But me being a proud man and all that,i refused to stumble and or fall on my ass first day back in a gym in front of those people,so with my legs damn near numb i wobbled over somehow to the weights and picked up a 12 1/2 weight and did 3 reps of 10 on each arm(which was basically me waiting for my legs to regain the proper balance and feeling :p).

After that I got on the treadmill, and too my own surprise i actually did 10 minutes on it pretty damn easily, the rest of the hour found me doing a bunch of random machines looking like a total noob.

After the workout was through I decided to catch the bus back home, but seeing as I was on workout high and got angry with waiting on the bus,I walked the quarter mile home and felt GREAT,I didn't walk hard or jog or anything I just walked at my own pace and stopped in the corner store and was tempted by all the junk food and such, but in the end only ended up getting a big bottle of poland spring water.

It's currently lunch time and on the menu for today at lunch(and probably dinner, atleast for tonight)

2 fried chicken breasts and a big plate of brown rice with some water to go down with it

I know i probably shouldn't eat the fried chicken, but I haven't eaten anything all day and atleast i'm getting that protein i figure

Well it turns out I only ended up eating one of the fried chicken breasts for lunch and I had the other one for dinner with some more brown rice.

Around the time WWE monday night raw came on(yes i still watch wrestling :D ),I felt the urge to snack on something, now mind you I have cheese doodles, plain potato chips and pretzel sticks in the house,I grabbed a small box of raisins instead and a cup of orange drink.

After raw went off I had refilled my big bottle of water and dranken it about 1/2 way down,I think i'm gonna go to sleep now.....good night all.

Another WWE fan....

Don't feel too bad about still watching wrestling. I used WWE as a motivational tool for a long time. I enjoy watching it in the gym as I work out. And being an ex-pro wrestler (yes, WWE style, with a few guys I used to train with actually getting their shot in WWE) I know how much of an athelete you need to be in order to be a pro wrestler. The show is fake, but the athletic ability is not.

A word of advice though. "Lots" of brown rice is not too good. Lots of anything should be avoided, even if it is good for you. And fried chicken (if we are talking deep fried) really reduces the good healthy benefits of said chicken ALOT! Even with the skin removed. Calories were (and still are) my hardest battle in this steel cage deathmatch of weightloss.

Keep up the good work man, and use that interest in wrestling to motivate yourself, I sure did. My goal used to be to get back into my old wrestling form, now that I have, my goal is to be better than when I was wrestling.... And thats only because I was strong enough to be a good wrestler without needing to be lean and mean like a runner before. Now I am shooting for the best of both worlds. Lean Mean and Strong..... LMS... My new wrestling name? Maybe...

I will let you know how it goes.

Well I just came back from the gym,I wanna ask you or anybody else here if 1hour in the gym a day for monday-friday is underworking or not

I'm currently not trying to get a 6 pack or get big muscles,I just wanna drop the weight so i'm mainly sticking to cardio stuff, this has been my routine today and i wanna know if it's good or not:

30 minute walk to the gym (warmup)

20 minutes on the treadmill
20 minutes on the bicycle machine at 67 watts

3 reps on each arm of a 15 lb weight
which equals about 5 minutes or so

10 minutes on the machine where you plant your feet on this surface thingy and push back at 4 reps of 10 and 100lbs (dont know the name of it)

5 minutes of situps in the smaller room

30 minute walk home (cool down)

I felt incredible during the walk home,I don't think i've ever had so much energy or not minded walking as much as i did today

For breakfast I think i'm gonna have a bowl of total raisen bran cereal, and maybe a piece of toast on white bread with butter

Good Morning HTG :)

I said hello to you over in the Newcomer section, but am just getting to your diary.

I wanted to tell you that it is good you're getting this under control now. More then anything, more then exercise, learning to eat proper proportions will help you for a LIFE time.

Best of luck to you as you reach your goals!

It's lunch time and here's what i'm having:

A tuna fish sandwich with light mayonnaise
15 regular generic brand ripple potato chips(im a bad boy :p )
Some water to wash it down

I was originally going to have some canned fruit I had up in the cabinets instead of the chips but then I saw the sugar content was like 23g and i went

Today is Thursday March 22,2007

As usual since monday,I got up at about 4:00 am and after getting washed, etc,I made my warmup walk to the gym.

Today I kinda switched up on the routine a bit

Usually the first thing I do is put in a good 20 minute walk on the treadmill, then another 20 on the stationary bike.

So today I started with 3 reps of 10 on the leg press machine with 100 lbs.

Afterwards I got on the treadmill for my usual 20 minute walk(sweat-a-thon :D).

Then I did some curls with some 15 lb weights and got the arms going because while i want to lose fat,i want to retain any muscle that may be hidden underneath,so after the curls I did some simple freeweight dumbell lifting with some 40 lb weights, after that some lat pulls.

Finally I got on the bike for about 5 minutes to cool down and keep my energy going for the walk back home.

For breakfast I had a nutrament drink and that was it

Now it's getting near lunch time so i'm boiling some brown rice and baking some flour and lemon pepper coated chicken breasts(i love them :D )
