hip pain

I have been working out on the treadmill at an incline for years now, but lately have developed pain in the joint right under my butt. I'm assuming it's from the incline and gets tight. Are there any special stretches to do to relieve the pain? It keeps me up at night.
 
What's the butterfly stretch? I think I can guess from the sound of it. But just to be sure, why don't you describe it for me?
