HIIT and Cardio?

Im planning on starting HIIT 3 times a week in the morning on an empty stomach. My question is, while im doing the HIIT plan, should I still incorporate cardio such as 30 minutes of cardio before i weight train 6 days a week?

edit: goal is to lean up/cut

No. I would not. Done properly 2 or 3 HIIT sessions a week are all the cardio you need! Any more would just be overtraining and might result in overuse injuries and overcompensation by your body (trying to store as much fat as possible to be ready for the next cardio session). You want sessions to be intense and infrequent.

i agree with dswithers. if you want, you can do about 5 minutes or so of medium intensity cardio before your weight training to get the blood flowing, but anymore than that and you will begin to burn glycogen, and your workout will suffer

HIIT cardio is all the cardio u need, as cardio is infact burning fat/muscle,

HIIT is the best way to burn fat/calories and also minimal muscle loss

I've read some on HIIT and this is what I do. I use a recumbanct bicycle which has a lap graphic on it; each lap is 1/4 mile. Excluding my warm up and cool down I cycle normal (20mph) for 3 laps then fast (25-28mph) for 1 lap. Is that sort of thing what one might call HIIT?

dswithers...you seem to even answer questions that I have everywhere!!
Awesome! I also needed to know this.....I do NOT want to overtrain. Thanks for the info guys!!
BTW, ds, did you ever do personal training or anything?? You seem to know a lot. (Just curious.)
Intense and infrequent....cool! I'll keep that in mind.
