I think this story of this high school principal is so inspirational.
To motivate so many people and studentsw to reach their weight loss goals is just amazing!

Sagers lost an average of 3 1/2 to 4 pounds every week by eating a more healthy diet and running three to four miles every morning. He said he wanted to model a healthy lifestyle for students and discourage crash diets.

How does he not think that wasn't crash dieting - especially when he was down below 300lbs -thats a big drop on a consistent basis... It's be interesting to see what his diet really looked like and if he'll be able to keep with it - forever....

It also bothers me a bit that cardio was his only form of exercise...

but eh- good for him... I hope the school system is educating the students on what consitutes healthy eating... and a sensible exercise program..

I like this story because if you look at the obesity weight in children throughout the country it is startling.

If they had one person in every school who could be a role model for children i think that would go down.

He is essential teaching children exercising and making healthy food choices.

Sorry, but all the school can do for younger children is to put proper food in the cafeteria. For younger kids, it all comes down to the parents. The parents are the ones buying them their food. The parents have to be the ones to stop enabling them to live unhealthy lifestyles.

For teenagers they have more freedom yes, but realistically from the time kids enter school they are taught in the classroom what is healthy, and what isn't. The food pyramid is taught at a very young age. They are taught that exercise is important, and despite the education youngsters are getting, the problem is still there.

I think the principal did a good thing trying to set an example for the older children, but I can't say that his example had, or will have as great of an impact that he might have hoped for. Though, I hope he does.

I actually get negative comments from other staff sometimes. Usually from overweight people themselves... saying how thin and sickly I look. Fuckers.

:-s You look good in the pictures. Unless you photoshopped some extra body onto yourself, you look great.

Those are the people that are jealous of your accomplishment. Their opinions do not count. :)
