High Intensity training!

High Intensity training!

Hi guys. I was just wandering what your opinions are on high intensity training. I know quite a few people that have found it a good way to break through sticking points. However some people seem to think that due to its almost aerobic nature, it can result in muscle loss.

Any thoughts on this one??

cheers :)

hey would u mind givin me an explanation of what exactly 'high intensity training' is?

My quick opinion (don't like going too deep into things and causing heated debates) is that HIIT is great for people looking to lose body fat. For people looking to gain muscle, it's also good, but only if done correctly - as in timing of cardio, weights, eating, etc.

Spock,

MMuscle is asking about HIT (high intensity training), not HIIT (high intensity interval training). HIT stands for High Intensity Training, which is a form of strength training in which you pick a certain weight and go to failure, as opposed to picking a rep range and adjusting weight to fit it, its a form of lifting very popular with football teams.

I've always believed that any type of training can be beneficial when properly executed. HIT is one form of training that I am anxious to try for myself when it fits into my training schedule. That means I'll work it in sometime in the late spring.

Here is a book by Dr. Ellington Darden called The New High Intensity Training

jogging will keep up your metabolism for an hour MAYBE, after your done.

sprinting, say during your jog, will keep your metabolism up higher for longer. so ideal for fat burning.

My fault for not reading the link he posted! Oops!

I think HIT is a good tool to use when your not gaining much. Negative reps work as well.
