high intensity interval training VS cardio

Hey everyone I have been out of the gym for the past year and half made some bad food choices in that time too. Right now I am 21 years old 5'8" 173lbs 13.x% body fat. It is all mainly in my stomach and I was wondering what would be better to do to get ride of the this weight. Would it be better to do high intensity interval training (HIT) or just running for about 20mins as fast as I can go? my goal is to loose as much of the fat as I can and drop my body percent down to 7%. I am also making eating changes as well so I am trying to be as realistic as I can be. Thanks for you inputs.

well you don't really want to run as fast as you can go even though it doesn't always hurt.

When I am trying to burn fat I usually run at about 6-7 mph

if I am not working on fat burning I get up to 11-12 mph easy. for 1-2 minute bursts. But this tires you out quickly and makes it hard to prolong the run to keep your heart rate up to burn fat, I think for me I my ideal heart rate is around 135 if I want to burn fat and if It goes higher I am working more on cardio, Not sure if those numbers are correct or not.

But 20 minutes is kind of a short run if that is all you are doing.

I do 15-20 minutes everday after my weight training on the treadmill

if I am just running and nothing else then I run for atleast an hour.

Hope this helps a little
