Hey all. Just joined the forum.
In the past I've lost a few pounds but always put it right back on. Last year I lost 27, but after some serious family stress, put it all back on again. I am a 23 year old female, I am 4'9'' and weigh 173lb. Ideally I would like to weigh 125lb. During the end of last year I started to get this horrible, horrible pain in my stomach I couldn't explain. It would paralyze me. I thought I was having a heart attack, since the pain radiated through my upper back and upper chest. Turns out it's a hiatal hernia. I was told I needed to lose weight, not only for that, but just in general. Also, my SO just moved away and is working to set up a place for us. I just had to quit my job because of the random and frequent attacks, so I decided to stay home with my parents until he's stable enough for me to move with him. Anyway.
I need help. I just can't seem to get back on the wagon. Normally when I lose weight, it's ALL or NOTHING. I get very strict, exercise a LOT, count calories, etc. But this time around I feel like I need to start out more gentle, because this hernia is very unpredictable and can pop out at any time. But I don't know HOW to start gentle, and also see results. I'm used to exercising several times a day for 20-40 minutes and I just can't anymore, so I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions? I thought it would be nice to spend this time by myself, not working, losing a little weight.
I was thinking, since it's still really cold out and snows off and on, I could maybe start by using the indoor exercise bike? And maybe try doing some of Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds videos? That's all I can think of, that doesn't involve bending over or exerting myself...but I'm just not sure if that, combine with calorie counting, will really do anything? Also because of the hernia I'm not allowed to have soda anymore. I don't regularly drink it, anyway, but lately I was. So no more soda for me, just water and tea...also trying to eat cleaner.
