Hi everyone! I'm new here..obviously! I'm kind of looking for support, information, and guidance. I guess a little about myself...

I'm 25 years old, female, and have been overweight my entire life. Due to poor upbringing (which really doesn't excuse anything now since I am an adult and my own person) I never really developed good exercise and eating habits. On top of that, I had a (now in check!) medical issue that caused me to gain even more weight...who knew that pretending something wasn't happening doesn't make it stop?! lol That medical issue isn't a factor at all now, so no worries there.

Currently I weigh 290lbs (terrible, I know!) but after all this time I've finally gotten the motivation and mind set to make my life better.

I'm sure so many people make plans to lose weight, but never stick to them. They're inspired by all sorts of things. I'm guilty of that. I have a big trip coming up in 5 months and I really want to be down to about 150lbs. Yes, the math on that does make it unhealthy, but honestly, I'm unhealthy now like this. That's about 6lbs a week in loss. But the thing is, it isn't just the trip. I'm excited about losing weight. Losing weight and keeping it off for the rest of my life.

I don't want to starve myself to do that. I'm not a lazy person, but my job requires me to sit at my desk all day, so there isn't much exercise from that. I LIKE exercise. I like being active. I have no problem working out...I just need to know how long I should be doing it for to make sure I have a schedule and a plan. (I'm all about schedules and plans!)

I usually only drink water. In fact, I usually down about 2 liters of water a day. I've never liked soda or anything, but sometimes I'm guilty of grabbing a glass of tea. I don't eat junk food, and I haven't been big on processed food in almost a year.

I think I just filled this entire intro post with my life story!

Hi Lilred,

What do you do for exercise now? Do you write down everything you eat...and I do mean everything? I'd like to help, but I need a little more information from you. Have you ever thought of getting a bodybugg to help you figure out exactly how many calories you are burning each day? I have a BodyBugg myself and suggest it to all my clients. You can just google it and take a look to see what it's all about. Writing down everything you eat and drink is a must...I know it might seem like a big pain in the butt to do, but you have to ask yourself which is worse...the extra weight you are carrying around, or writing down what you are eating? Losing weight is not the hard part(our bodies do not want to hold on to all the extra weight)...it's the conversation we have in our head each day that makes it a challenge.
