Hi, my name is Mary. I stumbled across this sight after a very depressing day. I have been trying to lose weight on my own for some time now but have been basically staying at my usual 220.

A little about myself: the lightest I have ever been in my adult years was 150 (age 18). I married my high school sweetheart who has also gained about 70 pounds since getting married. I am a mother to a beautiful little girl. I am also an elementary school teacher and this happens to be my summer vacation. I am about to turn 26 this September.

Any help and support that you can give me would be great. I have been looking through the forums and I am truly inspired by the success stories that I have been reading about.

In addition to reading the success stories, check out the sticky threads found at the tops of the various subforums. They're loaded with lots of good info and advice.

Weight loss comes down to simply and consistently following a sound plan. For a plan to be sound, it doesn't take a whole heck of a lot. Most fail for four reasons:

1. They don't tailor a plan to fit their bodies and mind. If you hate doing something, chances are consistency is going to be hard to come by.

2. They establish a sound plan and lose some or all the weight, but they did nothing in terms of planning life-after-weight-loss. When the scale hits their goal number, they revert either all at once or slowly over time back to their old habits.

Old habits = same struggles you had previously to weight loss.

3. Their minds. Their minds are loaded with limiting beliefs and powerful, habitual thought patterns that pretty much guide them to failure.

4. Piss poor management of expectations.

So do some reading of the stickies, maybe explain what you've tried before and why you feel those things didn't work, and feel free to ask some questions.

You're on summer break. You probably have free time on your hands, at least more than usual. You have a choice. A choice to take action right now. It's simply up to you.

Life's a short ride so make sure you're doing the things now that are going to lead to happiness for you and your loved ones at the end of the day.
