Hi everybody. I just wanted to say HI. I have been reading here on the boards for a few weeks now. I must say its very interesting reading everyones habits good/bad :) There is a lot of information to be had here, its simply a matter of finding it :)

I have recently started to change how/what i eat. I started logging everything i eat and its caloric values. I really think twice about stuffing my face when i have to write it down. I stated in another thread that I had a 30'' waist for a long while. I now wear a 33. I can tell i can gain weight much faster than before. I trying to make changes now before it gets out of control, which i know can happen before you know it. I LOVE junk food. Actually come to think of it, i love ALL food...lol... plus I think if you look better, you feel better.

I guess the hardest part, at this point, is trying to educate myself on whats good. The biggest problem I'm having in my first 5 days is not feeling satisfied after eating smaller portions and healthier foods. I know I'm going to burn out on oatmeal and chicken breasts...so i really need to find other foods that compare, but you don't feel like you're eating the SAME thing EVERYDAY...

I also have a question pertaining to the boards.. why can i not post threads in other parts of the forum? I tried posting a thread in the foods section and there is no where to start the thread???

Thanks everyone..i hope to make some changes along with everyone on here.

You can eat any type of protein you want. Given that you should be eating protein at least 3 times a day plan accordingly the portion size for the given calorie range.

You can eat more chicken breast than you can pork ribs.
You can eat more tuna than chicken breast. etc...

Try and have at least 2 of the 3 protein meals a day be healthier choices like lean meats (turkey/ham/chicken/fish) and keep the ground beef/ribs/pork chops/steak to one time. If you have a steak one day (a big one) drop a protein meal somewhere else that day and eat 3 clean protein sources the next day.

It's all about improv. Ugh honestly? I know I don't sweat where i get my protein from. I just try and keep the really evil stuff out of my diet: cookies/chips/bbq sauce/soda/mayo etc.

Try and get a couple reds/greens in from vegetables at least twice a day, even if they aren't exactly huge portions. I hide my vegetables in my food, hah. Like if i have carrots and broccoli for dinner, I eat a bit of steak with each bite and polish the yuck stuff off quickly and then sit back and relax and enjoy the rest of my meal. If it's gross, down it fast. If you like it, treat it like a luxury.

But above all, remember weight-loss and healthy are not always synonymous. Trying to eat healthy AND lose weight at the same time is really tricky..so if your food choices health-wise aren't perfect at the start give yourself some slack.

Michael :)
