Hi!

Hello, My name is Collette,

I have been struggling with my weight since my daughter was born in 1998, In 2001 I started loosing weight by using reductil, calorie controled diet and exercise, I lost 55lbs, but then I fell pregnant with number 2# I gained all the weight back.... I struggled to take the weight off, it just wouldn't budge, I then fell pregnant with number 3# in November 2005 and then lost 15lbs, gained 19lbs and then at the end of the pregnancy I was diagnosed with Gestational diabetes and through the last 10 weeks lost 61lbs (I don't know how. I was eating very healthy and not skipping meals etc) once #3 was born I went from the beginning weight of 240lbs to post pregnancy of 196lbs... unfortunately 17 months on I am now at 242lbs and Almost lost hope in ever loosing weight. I'm 5foot 2 (short) with too much weight. I went out and brought a treadmill the other day and now I want to jump back on the wagon and work this weight off.

At the moment i'm seperated from my partner, we are working through some problems. If things work out we are planning on getting married either in September 2008 or September 2009, I would really love to be down close to my ideal weight before that happens. The liklyness of things working out is 99% so I know I now have to put my head down and exercise.

My plans are to set my limit on calories per day at 1300 - 1400 to cut out extra carbs like Bread, Rice and other pastas..

to keep to 30% fat, 30% protein and 40% carbs. I have a program by calorieking which seems like a good program to use but will know more once the months start passing.

exercises, I'm planning on doing no less that 90 minutes a day considering I use to do this back when I lost 55lbs (in 14 months) and it was easy to work around daily, 30, 30 and 30 mins intervals.

I have rambled now and this is probably all scattered. My apologies in advanced if you get lost reading this :)

I better go for now and get this house tidied up and jump on treadmil.

I forgot to mention I'm in Perth, Western Australia!

Nice to meet you all! and look forward to joining you all in world of weight loss ;)

Your calories seem somewhat low, but if that's what your plan calls for, then by all means. As for cutting out extra carbs, you may want to reconsider not being all too restrictive. Afterall, they help to fuel your body during intense workouts. Good luck.

MsGhettoBooty nailed it. I want to restate what she said about your calorie intake, though. It is so important that you are getting enough cals if you want to get it off, but more importantly to keep it off, which is what it sounds like you have had problems with before! You want to give you body enough energy to do the exercise you want too! Eating healthily is much more important. Congrats on getting set up for some exercise, and start a diary to keep us updated on your progress! Welcome to the site.

Thank you for the welcome and information :)

I should have been more specific in my post, I was in such a rush yesterday...

Before I had my first child I was 135lbs, until I was 17 weeks pregnant.... I went up to 235lbs by 2 years later, Went the doctor for Help, she gave me a notepad and told me to write down my meals and exercise for two weeks and then come back and see her, I had not lost any weight so she put me on a plan, 30 minutes - 90 minutes exercise of my choice and 1300- 1400 calories for my height and how much I needed to loose. Within the first month I lost 16lbs and felt good, after 14 months I had lost a total of 66lbs, I maintained that for another 4 months and then fell pregnant with number 2, Weight maintained until I had a bleed and was told I could not walk for large amount of time, no sweeping, no mopping, no exercise... generally rest up.... That's when the weight piled on.

I went up to 240lbs and then fell pregnant with number 3 and I did light exercise and got down to 227lbs, then slowed down again due to being 12 weeks pregnant and didn't want what happened with number 2 to happen with number 3... Went up to 249lbs by 29 weeks and found out I had Gestational diabetes and had to eat low GI foods so then by the end of the pregnancy, before bubs was born I was at 227lbs again, once born I was at 196lbs.

Calorieking is the same as fitday... online free, also can buy the software which is the same but offline mode.. It has all the foods from the supermarkets here in Australia with the fats, carbs, calories, protein, satuated fats etc for each item.

it also has a exercise diary, a progress chart, 10,000 step program etc, It also gives you a estimate of how much weight could be lost with the stuff you input. It gives a recommended calorie maximum, It says 1500 for me but I have tried with 1500 and I don't seem to loose much if anything. So decided to go back to my old calorie amount. I will increase the intake if needed though.

After I have done my exercises for the night, I will pop over and make a new diary thread for myself up:) Thank you so much again for the support that you're already giving me! I use to be on another weight loss board the last time, Having online/board friends who is in the same situation is motivational and a asset with loosing weight. Sometimes people in a persons life don't know how to be supportive espeacially if they don't have the same problem or unwilling to do something about it.
