Hi everyone! I am Bea, I am 24, 5'7'' and 235. I have decided to change my lifestyle and get more active and work on appreciating my body like I should. It's the only one I have and I want it to last for a while! I joined a new gym about 3 weeks ago. I have lost about 5 lbs. I try to hit the gym every day for at least 30 minutes. I started out doing weight training 3 times a week and cardio 3 times a week and then I decided I would start doing cardio 5 times a week and weight training once a week. I am more concerned about losing weight than I am about bulking up! I rotate between the elliptical (my favorite), the treadmill, and the recumbent bike. When I started I could not last longer than 5 minutes on the elliptical, now I sometimes spend 40-50 minutes on the elliptical doing the random hill program on level 7 out of 20. I can tell a huge difference in my stamina and my energy level. I also have started eating healthier, alot more greens and salads and alot less chocolate and candies and chips. Starting Monday, January 29th, I will be going on the South Beach Diet. It will probably be very challenging for me for the first two weeks (due to the restrictions on PASTA!!!) but I have a support group of people who are also going to do this with me. One being my boyfriend, who is training for the NYC bike ride in May. Ideally my suggested weight zone for my height and age is between 135-150 but currently I am setting a weight goal of 200. I want to be realistic about this and meet that goal first and then gradually set more goals. So here is to a healthy new start on my life! I also look forward to building a support group with you all!!!
