Hi all

I'm Stan (well, not really, that's just a t'internet name I go by ;) ), 6 foot and was 24 stone until I finally decided to do something about it a few weeks ago.

Well, when I say 24 stone (okay, 336 lbs), what I really mean is that this was my last known weight as I've been too ashamed to get onto the scales recently. I know full well that it may even have been a bit more, but it certainly wasn't any less due to more than enough of the tasty stuff being crammed down my neck :(

Anyway, calories are down and exercise is up and I've already started on the long road ahead. As a result of a near-comfort-eating experience last week, I thought it'd be a wise move to sign up to somewhere like here for support along the way :)

I'm planning to avoid the scales as often as possible - previous attempts to lose weight have floundered when I've not shed as much as I'd hoped or expected, so it was a leap of faith when I just did climb on to get the reading shown on the chart below. I must confess to being pleasantly surprised :)

Hi Stan!!! Welcome!! :D:D:D
It looks like you're heading in the right direction!!
This is a great place for support & motivation.
Can't wait to get to know you a little more. :D:D

Good Luck!!

Thanks for the welcome.

I feel as though all of a sudden this lonely road I'm walking is not so lonely after all and should I stumble, there'll now be someone there to help pick me up and get me back on track again.

Guys - sorry if that sounds soppy, just telling it like it is
Girls - I'm just a big softie really

I will be posting on other people's diary threads just as soon as I feel I've got to know you a bit better - I started my own too, should you want to drop by :)

I also have a very unflattering (though truly representative) recent photo of myself I will upload to the B&A thread once I'm sure I no longer look like that!

Hey, Stan! Welcome to the forums!

You're doing well so far, keep walking the same track as you are and you're bound to succeed! Isn't it amazing when you get on the scales and see a higher weight than you wanted to see, and part of you thinks `Ah, I can't do this, let's go GORGE!' when you really should be thinking `Oh, I need to go for a walk and maybe eat a lighter dinner tonight'.
