Hi Everyone.
I thought I would introduce myself and give you a brief history of who I am and my lifelong struggle with weightloss or lack thereof.
From when I was about 9 years old I have struggled with my weight. On my dad's side of the family we are all big so I was fighting genetics
My mum tried just about anything and everything for me when I was a teenager, bless her little cotton socks, but nothing really worked. I have basically done it all apart from the preprepared meals bit.
I got a gastric lap band in 1997 when I was roughly 137kg, spent the next 4 years in starvation mode. I had a lot of problems with it slipping and for about 6 months all I could eat was mashed potato. Not good at all. Did manage to get down to 83kg but was in so much pain all the time, was vomiting everyday and when I started vomiting in my sleep, then I knew it was time to get it out. I would rather be fat then dead. So got it taken out and I put on about 40kg in 12 months even though I thought I was careful with my eating and going to the gym everyday, obviously not enough because I was drinking very very heavily.
Fast forward about 5 years and I was back up to 150kg. My very unhappy marriage ended and I started seeing someone who made me so unbelievably happy I didnt think it was actually possible to be that happy without bursting and because of that I stopped drinking. I lost 20kg just by doing that. So over the last 4 years I have managed to lose 60kg all up. this is a combination of starting with the gym, watching what I ate, having support from my partner etc etc
That relationship ended and I moved over the other side of the country with work to get away from him so trying to start a new life again. Been here 6 months now and am still very heartbroken but determined to get back into life again. I joined the gym again about a month ago and have been going "fairly" regularly, workouts lasting for almost an hour, but havent moved 1kg since so thought I would ramp it up again by starting the Cohens program again as I had success with it before.
I found this forum as I was googling recipes for the cohens and after reading a little bit decided to join, so here I am.
