Hi there!

I signed up a few days ago & wanted to get a feel for the boards & community before my first post. This group seems very committed and supportive. I appreciate everyone's posts.

I Was 230 back in 2002 & in 2003 I dropped my weight down to 185. I was SO proud and felt so accomplished. That accomplishment swung the other way when I ran out of $$ for gym membership :(

In 2004 I was 195 and I ended up pregnant. I had my daughter in 2005 and once she was a few wks old I was 200. I suffered severe post partum depression and as an emotional eater would, I gained weight steadily over the past few years.

A week and a half ago, I was 240 LB I have cut back calories and tried to keep it at least 1000 less than my basal & activities would burn off. It's worked to drop a little weight, I've also done some weight lifting and elliptical at least 20 mins/day over the past couple weeks.

I had my daughter take some photos of me for a reference point to look back at next month. I've also taken string and measured my waist, hips, arms, bust, thighs and calves. I figure Each time I put those strings around 1x a month I want to cut some of the length off of the string and re-measure.

I have the strings w/ tags on them in an envelope. On the front of the envelope I have a date/weight & each of the measurements written. I have a grid for each month to track progress. When I update pics, I'll update measurements.

I plan to share the photos as I feel a sense of accomplishment worthy of sharing. I hope that'll be in the next few months.

Thanks for reading!

Welcome to the community and best to ya with getting the excess weight off. I like the strings idea!

Thanks for the welcomes guys!

My tip, if you all can afford the gym or have a pool. Water aerobics. That can burn up to 500 cals an hour. I did that 2x/week and worked out in the gym 3x a week for cardio. I ate mostly beans and veggies and smaller portions of meat. protein bars. stuff like that. Drink tons of water. Shed weight real easy. I wish I could afford the water aerobics, but the gym is 30 mi away and over 90/month! Hard to do w/ the extra kiddo.

I have a new dual sport bike tho and I will be riding that to some neat hiking spots for fun this summer. hope that helps.

Welcome! I am new here as well, but just wanted to say that I am impressed with your goals and the way you are tracking them! The scale can be tricky, but the strings and measurements will show true progress.

Keep up the great work!
