hi there,
Ive been lurking round this forum for a few weeks picking up some very sound advice so thankyou, i thought id better join and share my experience.

Im a 26 year old male from the uk looking to change my lifestyle and become healthier. I have gone up and down in weight over the past few years. I was about 170lb in 2000 then upto 220lb in 2001 down to 160lb in 2003 . and slowly I reached my heaviest 228lb in june 2008 when i decided enough is enough.
I am using fitday to track my progress and reduced my calorie intake to between 1700 and 2000 . I workout 5 days a week rowing machine, treadmill , bike , elipitical machine , and do some HIIT and weights on alternate days.
As of my last weigh on monday (july 21st) I am down to 211lb, about 2.5 lb a week.
looking forward to sharing guys , thankyou :grouphug:

Congratulations on the stone and a quarter that you have lost to date. You are getting a great and healthy rate of weight loss - and I am sure that you will feel much better.

If you havent already - start taking measurements. Although our tickers show our weight - many of us take measurements (and monitor changes of clothes size) too.

You will realise that fitday does so much more than log calories. It is a great way of checking that the calories that you eat form a healthy balanced diet where you get all the nutrients that you need.

Start a diary. Visit other people's diaries too. You will see what they do and can form relationships with people around the forum. This is how we support each other. Join in on challenges too. It can help to keep you motivated.

Whereabouts in the UK are you? I live not too far from Heathrow - but am from Newcastle upon Tyne originally.

Welcome aboard... glad you decided to come out of lurk-mode. Sounds like you're off to an excellent start.

thnx guys, im from birmingham omega, yeah fit day is very usefull , it showed me that even with calorie reduction i was getting too high a contribution from fats and too little from protien , so i adjusted accordingly, i havn't taken any measurements yet , i better dig a tape measure out!!!!, how often do you reckon i should measure myself, i weigh myself every monday

I am pretty sure that A-n-g-e-l is in the midlands.

I measure myself (or to be more accurate - get my husband to help me) every month - but some people go in for measuring every two weeks.

Some people take comparitive photos and if they are working hard at the gym - you can see a difference in the couple of weeks or month in between! Maverick did that for a while - but she seems to have disappeared recently.

Before using fitday - many of us thought that we were eating a pretty nutritionally sound diet - but found ways of tightening it up.

I also like the reports that you get on fitday where you can easily see if you are getting enough calcium etc.

Good luck
Margaret
