Hi everyone,

I just found this forum and I hope I found the right place.

About 1.5 years ago I was in Asia for 6 months. Didn't care for the food very much, quit drinking, did a lot of running on the treadmill and a lot of hiking. I went from being 206 and 5'11" to 178.

I've keep most of it off, but it seems to be coming slowly back. I now weigh 186. The thing is, though, that I eat very light for lunch and breakfast. I have 2 bowls of corn flakes for breakfast and 2 hard boiled eggs, a banana, and some yoghurt for lunch.

Here's the strange part, though. It seems that the more I run I actually slowly gain weight. I'm not just talking muscle either; my pants are starting to get tight. Until I hurt myself a few weeks ago, I was running 65 minutes 5 days/week @ 6.5 mph. For 2 weeks, I couldn't run at all, and my clothes fit better.

I eat dinner after I run, so my theory is that running so long is increasing my appetite. Now I'm starting to run again and am wondering if I should run for say 30 minutes instead.

Does this make any sense?

Thanks

Two bowl of corn flakes for breakfast sounds like a lot. You can't outrun a bad diet. I suggest taking a look at what you are eating and maintain a food log for one week. You can calculate how many calories you should be eating per day and see if you are In The right range. It's also important not to overtrain. Are you following a specific program with your running?

To me its seems like your metabolism needs a boost, though i can see your frustration that is alot of running !
