hi im new

Hi everyone! im new here. im 20 years old, 5'5.5", 114 pounds. I need help making a workout routine. I know I'm not overweight or anything, but i definitley have a lot of excess flab and i am not very toned. my goal is to lose about 5 pounds and really tighten up my body. i used to workout consistently but now i got out of it and want to get started again. right now i workout once in awhile but not on a regular basis. i think if i get a routine to stick to i will have a better time following it. does anyone have any suggestions?
 
Yes, I have a suggestion :D

Work with weights more than cardio. This way you gain a little muscle and that gives you a lean toned look. The muscle will also help burn additional calories.

The trick though... is to eat enough calories to build muscle. So do NOT be afraid to eat a lot of really good healthy food. 5-6 times per day- 1 protein and 1 carb at each meal. (ex- chicken on salad, tuna sandwich, cottage cheese (protein) and bluberries, etc).

Then lift heavy weights (to build lean toned muscle) for lower reps. Try 3 sets of 8-12 reps. Since you are just beginning really focus on form and posture.
 
thanks for the advice! i need help making up a schedule. im thinking working out 6 days a week for one hour a day...the first day do hour of cardio, second hour of weights, 3rd hour of cardio, fourth hour of weights, and so on... i really need to get rid of my flab!!
 
Sounds okay. Start with three days of a full body strength training routine. But be sure to do it right :) Lift the proper amount of weights. I'd stick in the 3 sets of 8-10 rep range to begin.

On the cardio days I would do a variety of cardio exerises and intensities. Maybe 20 minutes of intervals (30 seconds higher intensity, 30 seconds walking, 30 seconds higher intensity, etc).
