Hi my name is amy. I'm 33 have two kids. An 11 year old boy and 6 year old daughter. I'm 5'3 and weight 188. I just need to talk with people who can help me stay on track.

Hi everyone

I'm new to the forums here. I am 33 and have two kids. My son is 11 and in the 6th grade. My daughter is 6 and in a special education school for autism. She is severely autistic. I was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma last March. I had my left kidney out on April 13th. I am now cancer free (for now), but I have gained about 25 lbs since my surgery. I'm now 5'3 and 188. I have tried to motivate myself but I just can't get going. My husband works 84 hours (really) a week. I feel like I never get a chance to sit down. I dont't know how I can be so fat. Maybe its the ice cream???:drool5: I just need some help from people who know what I'm going through.

Hi Amy!

I'm new here too. I'm here for the same reason. I do have some support here in the 'real world', but it's nice to talk to people going through the same thing. I only have one person like that. Feel free to PM me if you ever need a boost.
Take care!

Thanks for replying. I really don't have any friends. I'm just so busy with my kids that I don't have time for anything. You can be my weight buddy:party:

Hey, I've been waiting to write you all day. Don't get discouraged if the replies aren't exactly rolling in... :reddevil:

I was doing really well with my own weight loss last march, when I was diagnosed with a 4.5 cm seminoma testicular tumor. I had it removed with clean margins, like your renal cell carcinoma, and I elected to have the adjuvant radiation upon the advice of my physician, as well as the fact that he had one of the newest, best image-guided radiation therapy machines. You can read more about that in my diary (Abilor's diary), but I also gained back about thirty pounds.

Even when you're fine, living with a cancer diagnosis is a five year sentence, as you already know. I simply got sick of waiting around for a recurrence, and have finally decided to take the bull by the horns, and get this weight off for good. It will help your body detox, making recurrence and any additional tumors (even from cancer treatment) less likely. There's no "magic" answer though, and I just wanted to let you know that we're in pretty similar boats. Fun, huh!

At least we're doing it for health, not to lose 2 sizes to fit in that wee bikini.

As far as your daughter, well, that's one hell of an ante. My wife specializes in learning a lot of homeopathy, and there's a surprising amount you can do for autism? I'm sure you've read a lot, but have you heard about: the vaccination hypothesis? The plastics hypothesis?

Abilor

:waving:Thanks Abilor. I do get frustrated really easy. The 5 year wait does suck. I have to have MRI's and/or CT scans of the area every year for 10 years, oh boy. I do need to get healthy. I'm feel so much better that there is someone out there that I can relate to. Most people look at me and say "wow , cancer?" " thought people with cancer were really skinny." How rude. They just don't get it. Thank you for talking to me.
