I've lost 27 pounds over the last year and a half and I still have 23 to go to meet my goal. I keep falling off the wagon. I started again last Monday and have lost 1.5. Started counting calories now and logging my exercise. I want to lose the 23 pounds by 1 November...

I'm very happy to be here and wish everyone luck on achieving their goals :).

Hi Karlo, so right you are. I have been very inconsistent over the past months. Last week I started back in earnest. I'm doing morning workouts (5 days workout and 1 day stretch) and running three days a week and walking 7 days a week. But then, I've always been a daily walker and consistent 3 day a week runner (I own a rather large dog who requires much exercise...it's a mutual benefit :). The new part is the workout. I hope that and my calorie counting make the difference! In 90 days or so, I want to be 23 pounds lighter...Last week I wanted to be 24.5 pounds lighter. As they say, a journey of a thousand miles.... :)

As you have a very positive mind this absolutely possible for you. Go ahead. Wishing you best of luck to reach your goal.

Hello kj67,

First of all, congratulations on the weightloss so far and welcome to the forum..you've come a long way baby! Your body has been in weightloss mode for while, so the last 23 pounds will not come off without a fight! I think you are being too optimistic to set your goal for 1 November..that would require over 10 pounds/month and while at the beginning, we can all see that rate, after your body is in weightloss stress, that's probably not going to happen in a healthy way...(I've been at this journey now for 14 months, and believe me, I'm struggling to get off my last 40 pounds to my goal weight!)...a healthy sustainable weightloss (and that's what we all really want...not to have to lose it again) is 1 pound/week, so you might reconsider the self-imposed deadline! To lose it, you might consider adding some resistance training to your cardio..muscle burns more calories than fat and also helps your look better too. I do daily pushups to build muscle...it's not as much as I probably should, but it is helping me along.

I think you'll find this forum to be helpful...I did! Come on over to the "Weightloss diary" and start a thread...you'll see many of us there who are on our journey's just like you!

Hi Sribhouse/Sarah! You are so right about the fight part. The first 27 came off with mainly dieting and walking. And then for at least 9 months all I did was maintain and again just walking and the running. Now, I'm doing a workout in the mornings and counting calories and you're right and that's exactly what my nutrionist said too, 1 pound a week is more realistic. Thank you!!

Welcome to the forum and congratulations! I second making a diary in the diary section--lots of cool people over there at different stages of their journey (me included!) xxx
