Hi - I'm a newbie

Just a quick hello and tell you a little about me...

I am in a slump. I haven't worked out much in the last 3 years. I used to be a total gym rat and was very fit - weighed between 97 and 106 lbs, body fat at about 12-15% - those were the days! About 2 months ago, hubby and I quit smoking. At that point, I needed to lose about 10 pounds, but since quitting, have gained almost 5 more. I keep telling myself I'll start my diet and exercise Monday, but never do. I need to get motivated!!!! I joined the gym at work 2 months ago and have yet to go. Tomorrow's the day - I promise!

So, I am 42 years old, 5 feet tall, 119 lbs. When I was full term with my son almost 12 years ago, I weight 126... so imagine the disgust I'm feeling. I am determined to lose the weight before we leave for Florida on August 29th. That gives me about 6 weeks.

I live in Jersey (but wish it was Florida), married for 17 yrs in October, have a 15 yo daughter and almost 12 yo son. I have 3 boxers who love to walk, so it's time I start putting them to good use!

Welcome to the family! Let me know if you have any questions!

I think the hardest part, is the initial...getting yourself started. However, I noticed that the only way to loose weight is that you need to have an incentive. Without that, it's nearly impossible. Write a reason, goal, motivations to start. Mine is, my wedding, and of course my health. But the health thing is too generic and not specific enough. You are on the right track however, by joining this WLF.

You have already begun your weight loss strategy just by joining this forum...this is a good place to start.

Well done for taking this first step. I feel certain that if you come here frequently you will be inspired to take further steps.

Also well done for quitting smoking...that's not an easy thing to do and you did it.

This proves you have willpower, determination and motivation to do what is difficult in order to have better health.
